In addition to the lectures presented by renowned specialists, there were small reports at the workshop made by attendees. Julia Pak presented an interesting clinical case from her own practice. The report aroused interest of the audience and she was asked a lot of questions about the approaches to diagnostics and treatment that are adopted at Tyumen Cardiology Center.
As to the organization of the workshop, Julia said that since 2005 the American-Austrian Fund had been organizing in Salzburg different medical workshops, including those devoted to cardiology issues. Usually about 40 delegates from countries of Central and Eastern Europe, CIS and from Russia take part in these workshops.
The main issues of the workshop “Cardiology – 2008” were concerned with treatment of acute coronary syndrome, up-to-date methods of treating atrial fibrillation, interventional cardiology and others.
A brilliant lecture on resynchronization therapy by Kenneth Stain, the director of the course, was especially interesting.
On completion of the course the participants received certificates and disks with lectures. The workshop was closed with a fine concerto for violin and cello.
Julia Pak noted: “I think the workshop was held on a high educational level. Scientific meetings like this one don’t only contribute to updating professional knowledge, but also give an opportunity to exchange experience with physicians from different countries. Besides, participation in such events helps to improve knowledge of foreign languages.” |
