MYOCARDIAL INFARCTION IS NOT A SENTENCE

It should be reminded  that since 2006 Tyumen Cardiology Center receives patients with acute myocardial infarction 24 hours a day, and the interventional cardiologists perform transluminal balloon angioplasty (high-technology method of medical treatment that helps to quickly restore blood flow to the heart muscle) on them. In 2008 190 such interventions were performed.

Andrey Prokhorikhin, the interventional cardiologist of the Cardiology Center, expressed his opinion about the scientific and practical meeting held: “The seminar was aimed at sharing the practical experience and planning of the general approach to management of patients with acute myocardial infarction. We are certain about the fact that this seminar will improve the quality of cardiological treatment”.

Igor Zyrianov, the head of the Cardiology Center Cath Lab,  one of the members of the Siberian Organization of Interventional  Cardioangiologists conducted several lectures and round-table conferences at the seminar. Experts from Novosibirsk, Krasnoyarsk, Tomsk, Kemerovo, and also from such countries as Czech Republic, Poland and the Netherlands made reports on the topic “The most difficult angioplasty I have ever performed”.

Also a facility of great importance was available there – live demonstration of the operations, performed by the leading Russian and foreign interventional cardiologists in the Cardiology Clinic of Kemerovo. The operations were performed on the patients with myocardial infarction, and during the procedure the audience could ask questions on-line.

It is important, that it has been decided that the next seminar on the same topic will be held at Tyumen Cardiology Center. Presumably, it will take place in December, 2009 and will be devoted to one of the most promising areas of modern cardiology - the usage of drug-eluting stents.
