WORLD CONGRESS OF CARDIOLOGY HELD IN BEIJING

The main objective of the World Congress 2010 was to unite the voices of societies, foundations and partners to take steps to reverse the trend of the growing epidemic of cardiovascular disease in developing nations. Each year 17.2 million people die from cardiovascular diseases, 80 % of them in the developing world and emerging economies.

Prof. Vadim A. Kuznetsov, Director of Tyumen Cardiology Center delivered two oral and two poster presentations. In his reports “Indications for cardiac resynchronization therapy in heart failure patients: from guidelines to practice in the PANORAMA-RUSSIA observational study” and “ECG patterns during sexual intercourse in patients with coronary artery disease”, Vadim A. Kuznetsov talked about scientific research done by specialists of Tyumen Cardiology Center.

According to Vadim A. Kuznetsov, the congress in Beijing was a large scale event. Cardiologists from different countries of the world presented 2,200 (!) reports and 11 of them were Russian. It should be added that only the representatives of Federal Center of Heart, Blood and Endocrinology (St. Petersburg, Russia) and of Tyumen Cardiology Center (Tyumen, Russia) delivered two oral presentations each.

This year the forum in Beijing has been jointly organized by the World Heart Federation, the Chinese Society of Cardiology and the Chinese Medical Association. It should be reminded that the mission of the World Heart Federation is to help the global population achieve a longer and better life through prevention and control of heart disease and stroke.
