The symposium was held in Tyumen Cardiology Center with active participation of a well-known American interventional cardiologist Dr. Timothy Timko who presided at the meeting. The program of the symposium included lectures and presentations by Dr. Timothy Timko and Russian scientists: Igor. P. Zyrianov, MD, Head, Cath lab, Tyumen Cardiology Center; Alexander G. Osiev, MD, PhD, Head, Center for Endovascular Surgery and Radiodiagnostics, E.N. Meshalkin Research Institute of Blood Circulation Pathology (Novosibirsk); Alexander Yu. Rychkov, MD, PhD, Research Supervisor, Heart Rhythm Disturbances Department, Tyumen Cardiology Center. The main issues of the meeting were concerned with high-technology methods of treating coronary artery disease, a comparison of capabilities of invasive methods with those of conservative treatment. More than 80 attendees - cardiologists and health professionals from towns of the Tyumen region and Omsk, Chelyabinsk, Kurgan, and Perm as well - were present at the symposium.
On May 27, 2008 interventional cardiologists of Tyumen Cardiology Center and Dr. Timko performed jointly four operations: three scheduled operations and an emergency one on the patient who had been brought to hospital in a grave condition with acute myocardial infarction.
