XIII Annual International Conference “Cardiology Update” in conjunction with Symposium “Cardiovascular Diseases in Conditions of the Northern Regions and the Far East”

XIII Annual International Conference “Cardiology Update” in conjunction with Symposium “Cardiovascular Diseases in Conditions of the Northern Regions and the Far East” was held on November 2-3, 2006 in Tyumen, Russia.

This scientific meeting was organized by Tyumen Cardiology Center with support of the Siberian Branch of the Russian Academy of Medical Sciences, Department of Health Care, Department of Education and Science of Tyumen region and Tyumen chapter of the Society of Cardiology of the Russian Federation.

 

The meeting was attended by cardiologists, therapists, interventional cardiologists, experts on ultrasound and functional diagnostics, faculties, clinical residents and students. The total number of participants at the conference was 270. The scientific program included 4 plenary sessions, a concurrent session, a satellite symposium and an award competition for young scientists.

 

The problems at issue were the following: modern methods of treating chronic coronary artery disease, new capabilities of cardiac resynchronization therapy, intensive treatment of high-risk cardiology patients, innovative treatment of patients of high risk of cardiovascular complications with statins in adequate doses, the modern view on antiaggregant therapy, metabolic cardioprotection in patients with coronary artery disease and type 2 diabetes mellitus, angiotensin receptor blockers in treatment of arterial hypertension and chronic heart failure, the peculiarities of treating elderly patients with cardiovascular pathology, prevention of thrombosis on an outpatient basis, prevention of thromboembolic complications in cardiology, innovative methods of treating chronic heart failure, surgical methods in treatment of post-thromboembolic pulmonary hypertension, arterial hypertension, myocardial infarction, risk of stroke and antagonism in the male population at the age of 25-64 years (epidemiological study on the basis of the World Health Organization program “MONICA”), microcirculation and arterial hypertension, the main areas of diagnosis and treatment of associated types of coronary artery disease and chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, influence of coronary angioplasty on intracardiac dynamics, remodeling of cardiovascular system during adaptation to the conditions of Tyumen North, metabolic syndrome in combination with coronary pathology and chronic respiratory diseases in the North, the first Russian experience of using excimer laser coronary angioplasty, the dynamics of prevalence of cardiovascular diseases among aboriginal and non-aboriginal population in the Far North, the results of àtorvastatin therapy in real clinical practice, exercise tolerance in patients with arterial hypertension in the conditions of shift work in the Far North.

 

Within the symposium “Cardiovascular Diseases in Conditions of the Northern Regions and the Far East” scientists and physicians from universities and clinics of northern cities presented the results of their research and studies as well as interesting cases from clinical practice.

 

Mass media of Tyumen region and of the surrounding area provided wide coverage of the Conference.
