Clinical and Diagnostic Laboratory

The Clinical and Diagnostic Laboratory (CDL) is one of the main paraclinical services on the basis of the Tyumen Cardiology Research Center, and has been operating since the institution was opened. It presents almost the entire range of examinations (full blood count, hematological, coagulological, biochemical, immunohematological, immunological, serological, molecular biological), which allow to conduct quickly a complete patient examination at the initial stage and obtain reliable treatment results up to time.

Team of professionals work in CDL: 2 physicians, 3 biologists, 6 laboratory technicians. All specialists of the department are certified in "Clinical Laboratory Diagnostics" and "Laboratory Diagnostics".

The work of the laboratory is constantly assessed by the Federal System of External Assessment of the Quality of Laboratory Research. For the first time, in 2017, the clinical diagnostic laboratory of the Tyumen Cardiology Research Center took part in the international external quality assessment program - EQAS (External Quality Assuarance Services), the results of which showed that the tests conducted in the laboratory are carried out correctly, in full compliance with international quality standards. The participation of the CDL in external quality control programs allows patients and physicians to be confident in the accuracy of the test results.

The quality of equipment in the laboratory directly affects descriptiveness and speed of examination results. The automatic analyzers of KDL include world-leading devices in relevant laboratory equipment segments, with high performance and a wide range of examinations performed, which are combined into common information space using the Laboratory Information System (LIS) "ALISA".

Nowadays, the laboratory has 2 biochemical analyzers "Mindrey BS 480" and "Cobas Integra 400 plus"), 1 coagulometer "Destini Plus", 2 hematological analyzers "Sysmex KX-21" and "Mindray BC 5800"), automatic analysis system "Vision Hema" for blood smear test, "Biosen C-line" glucose analyzer, "Roshe Omni C" blood gas and electrolyte analyzer, "Immulite 1000" and "Immulite 2000XPi" immunochemiluminescent analyzers, "Glycosylated Hemoglobin" analyzer "BioRad D-10", "LabUReader" urinary analyzer, mono- and binocular microscopes and 6 types of centrifuges.

All these ensure the analytical and diagnostic accuracy of laboratory methods allow even more mastering and implementing new research methods. Since 2003, collecting of blood sample for testing has been carried out only in vacuum tubes with various fillers.

At the end of year 2008, the department began completely to use only automatic disposable blood lancet (Hemolance Plus, Sweden), which led to the elimination of discomfort during blood collection in patients, in particular, from seriously ill patients and patients with diabetes mellitus. In the same year, the laboratory absolutely switched to work in local information system of the clinic (MIS): blood test appointments and presentation of results is carried out only in electronic form. In total, the laboratory performs 26 clinical and 78 biochemical parameters.

In 2018, the Immulite 2000XPi immunochemiluminescent analyzer was put into operation in the immunological sector of the laboratory: the flagship of immunochemical examinations, one of the most accurate methods for assessing the state of various organs and body systems. Blood tests are highly sensitive on this device: it is now possible to determine the chosen component in the sample, even if it is present in a negligible concentration. The range of diagnostic capabilities of Immulight-2000XPi is very wide: it can be used for examination of various hormones, tumor markers, vitamins and microelements important for the state of the cardiovascular system.

In May 2019, Tyumen Cardiology Research Center officially opened a new laboratory for clinical diagnostic and molecular genetic research methods. The department conducts comprehensive genetic studies to determine the risk of development of cardiovascular diseases, which are based on the identification of genetic polymorphisms associated with disorders of the blood coagulation system, lipid metabolism by PCR (polymerase chain reaction) in real time. Genetic screenings will help to identify the risk group at an early stage and make appropriate adjustments to the tactics of patient management.
