Brief biography

In 1982, Dr. Shurkevich graduated from General Medicine Faculty of Tyumen State Medical University. Since 1983, after her internship, she worked as a therapist; upon completion of clinical residency in the internal diseases, she has been employed as a cardiologist, Junior Scientific Researcher (1991), Scientific Researcher (1995), Senior Scientific Researcher (2009), Leading Scientific Researcher (since 2017 - present) at Arterial Hypertension and Coronary Insufficiency Department of Scientific Division of Clinical Cardiology in Tyumen Cardiology Research Center – Branch of Tomsk National Research Medical Center – Branch of Tomsk National Research Medical Center.

Research interests

Dr. Shurkevich is an author of over 100 research papers, including 2 patented inventions on new approaches to diagnosis and treatment of cardiovascular diseases and 1 officially registered database. Her scientific interest lies in studying the impact of Arctic conditions on the development and prediction of key socially significant cardiovascular diseases in working population. Shurkevich Nina Petrovna was awarded with Certificate of Merit (2005) from the Russian Academy of Medical Sciences Siberian Branch for many years of conscientious and impeccable work in the field of medical science and healthcare, for significant contribution to the socio-economic development of Tyumen Region, Certificate of Merit (2006) from Tyumen Administration, Certificate of Merit (2007) from Tyumen region Governor, Certificate of Merit (2010) from the Russian Academy of Medical Sciences, Certificate of Merit (2017) from the Russian Academy of Sciences. In 2019, she was awarded "Honored Veteran of the Siberian Branch of the Russian Academy of Sciences" Honorary Title.
