Brief biography
Maina Vasilyevna was a cardiologist of the highest category, graduated from the Alapaevsk Medical college in 1959. In the first years after graduation, she worked as a nurse, paramedic practitioner, head of the medical station in hospitals of Ishim in Tyumen region and Irbit in Sverdlovsk region. In 1970, M.V. Luzina graduated from Tyumen Medical Institute, then worked as a General Practitioner, Deputy Chief Physician for medical-labour expert commission at Outpatient Clinic No. 5 of the city of Tyumen. She was the one of organizers of Tyumen Cardiology Service; 1981-1985: Maina Vasilyevna took a position of Chief consultant cardiologist of the City Healthcare Department and was engaged in organization of cardiologists` offices in outpatient clinics, advanced training for physicians in cardiology, rehabilitation of patients who had suffered from myocardial infarction at stage of hospital care and treatment in outpatient clinic. From the moment of opening of the Department of Urgent Cardiology in Tyumen Cardiology Research Center in 1985, she worked as the Head of it. Since 2015, she had been working as Deputy Chief Medical Officer. In 2003, Maina Vasilyevna was awarded an honorary title "Honoured Doctor of the Russian Federation".

Achievements, awards, and grants
Luzina Maina - Honoured Doctor of the Russian Federation (2003), physician of the highest qualification category, a talented organizer. Maina Vasilyevna took personal control of work and organized the Department of Urgent Cardiology with the intensive care and resuscitation unit, which treated patients with acute coronary pathology. Since the first years, the department has been implementing modern high-tech diagnostic and treatment methods that allow providing timely and effective assistance to patients in emergency medical condition; treatment algorithms of patients with acute coronary syndrome had been practicing under her direction. Currently, new methods of diagnostics and treatment of patients such as thrombolysis, 24-hour angiography, angioplasty, electrocardiostimulation, use of implantable cardioverter-defibrillators are introduced into practice.

M.V. Luzina passed away in April 2021. Maina Vasilievna was very distracted with desire of her work: she was competent, professional, and attentive, with a huge sensitive heart. So colleagues proposed to establish the Award in loving memory and remembrance of unique person, dear friend and great professional in the history of our institution. Award named after Maina Vasilyevna Luzina, MD, Deputy Chief Physician for treatment of our Center, cardiologist of the highest category, Honored Physician of the Russian Federation, one of the most authoritative physicians of Tyumen region, is going to be given every two years.
