Residence at Tomsk National Research Medical Center. “I gained lots of practical skills and became self-confident”	title=

- In the beginning I was planning to become a psychiatrist. But at my fifth year of university I started to work as a nurse at Tyumen Cardiology Research Center and I liked the Center and the staff. I managed to know the work there. Thinking of the study continuation, I understood that there is no better place for residence than Tyumen Cardiology Research Center. There is friendly staff, modern equipment, high science level and I really enjoyed working in cardiology. Despite only one state-funded place and several candidates, I managed to pass the exam successfully, received the reviews of my colleagues and entered the residence of Tyumen Cardiology Research Center.

I learned a lot doing my residence. For example, I can communicate with patients and colleagues, I gained many practical skills and became more self-confident. Now I have no fear, it was replaced by experience.  My work as a doctor has become an integral part of my life.

Opportunity to do science

After my first year of residence I started to work at the Department of Surgical Treatment of Complex Heart Rhythm Disturbances and Pacing, where my first mentor was Natalia Khorkova, MD, cardiologist, and my first research supervisor was Alexander Rychkov, Professor, Research Supervisor of the Department of Heart Rhythm Disturbances of Scientific Department of Instrumental Research Methods. They taught me a lot and promoted love to science.

My scientific interest is closely connected with arrythmology. Last year I finished my PhD thesis “Predictors of left atrial appendage thrombus in patients with nonvalvular atrial fibrillation”.

In the result of my work new thrombus predictors were revealed. Later, with the help of Tatiana Gizatulina, my research supervisor, we created a calculator to predict thrombus in patients with nonvalvular atrial fibrillation without instrumental research methods. We actively implement this innovation in practice and last year we sent the documents to apply for a patent.

Specialists from the educational and methodological department of Tyumen Cardiology Center, who support and accompany residents throughout the entire period of study share: “Training in our center is carried out in areas that are actively developing in the Russian Federation, and provides an opportunity to obtain stable theoretical knowledge, improve and develop practical skills. The Center is not only a multidisciplinary medical institution, but also a research platform. Professional clinicians and scientists, experienced teachers work with residents. One of the important areas of our activity is training in accordance with the standards of higher education for residency and postgraduate studies and programs of additional professional education. We also provide students with access to infrastructure, the opportunity to participate in research, clinical trials, international conferences.”
