Chatbot "Assistant cardiologist" aimed at more effective treatment of cardiovascular diseases

Maria Lyapina, MD, Ph.D., therapist, gastroenterologist, expert of our Center together with a team of physicians, scientists and students of the Tyumen Medical University, has patented "Assistant Cardiologist" chatbot. The softwear program allows patients, under supervision of a physician, to correct their lifestyle and diet so that the treatment becomes more effective.

The full name of the project, during which the digital product was created: "Development of personalized approaches to treatment of people with high cardiovascular risk living in Tyumen and Tyumen region, using omics technologies for studying the genome and metabolome of the intestinal microbiota." The research project is being implemented by Tyumen Medical University together with our Research Center as part of a government assignment.

Maria Vitalievna Lyapina, the project manager, explained that program was intended for remote support of patients with cardiovascular diseases and high cardio-metabolic risk, contributed to formation of adherence to recommendations on proper nutrition and lifestyle, and allowed monitoring fulfillment recommendations between face-to-face consultations with physician. In addition to calculating the daily calorie intake, cardiovascular risk on SCORE scale, body mass index, she added that the chatbot program allowed patients to evaluate food diary (there were 1080 food items and dishes in the database), calculate caloric content of a diet, content of proteins, fats, carbohydrates and dietary fiber (recalculation of C:P:L:C:Df for content in a portion / piece) with subsequent recommendations for correcting the diet. Physician said that there was also an opportunity to ask a question.

Digital item is in demand among patients; they have given positive feedback about its work. The chatbot is especially relevant for patients suffering from obesity, arterial hypertension, and carbohydrate metabolism disorders. The developers see prospects for scaling up the use of the Cardiologist Assistant chatbot in the preventive departments of outpatient departments for patient follow-up in dynamics.
