Russian National Congress of Cardiology is the largest and most significant annual event for Russian cardiologists and physicians. This year it was held in Yekaterinburg. More than 4600 delegates from 28 countries took part in the meeting, and about 2500 people watched its online broadcast.

The theme of the Congress-2019 was "Russian Society of Cardiology for professionals and patients — fr om primary care to the latest technologies".

Evgeniy Shlyakhto, the President of the Russian Society of Cardiology, Academician of RAS in his welcome speech said: "Necessity of this topic discussion with the participation of experts from all regions of Russia, is dictated by not only the high social importance and wide prevalence of diseases of the circulatory system, but also new perspectives offered by the implementation of the national project "Healthcare". The state government allocates significant funds for health protection, effectiveness of which is mostly determined by staff training level, their ability to fully realize the achievements of scientific and technological progress and fundamental biomedical researches.”

All meetings, symposia and schools of the Congress devoted to the discussion of urgent problems of prevention, diagnostics and treatment of cardiovascular diseases. Thousands of experts including specialists from France, Italy, Australia, Turkey and other countries, discussed new approaches in the treatment of patients, who underwent stroke; suffering from arterial hypertension, coronary artery disease, rheumatic diseases, congestive heart failure, diabetes mellitus, obesity and many others. Faculties talked about genetic researches, high technologies in the treatment of heart diseases, main directions of prevention and detection of mental pathologies, increasing life expectancy, integration of modern clinical recommendations into practice.

At plenary meeting "Diagnostic radiology in urgent cardiology: different clinical scenarios" Professor E. Golukhova, Academician of RAS, delivered a report "Myocardial infarction without obstructive lesion of coronary arteries. Echocardiography in diagnostics of MINOCA”, coauthored by Professor V. Kuznetsov, Scientific Supervisor of our Research Center. The presentation aroused great interest of audience. D. Krinochkin, MD, PhD, Head of the Department of Ultrasound Diagnostics and E. Yaroslavskaya, MD, PhD from the Laboratory of Instrumental Diagnostics of the Scientific Department of Instrumental Research Methods noted many interesting sections of the Congress: imaging in cardiology, differential diagnostics and treatment of pericarditis, heart rhythm disturbances associated with sleep rhythms, new classification of tricuspid regurgitation; new approaches in dyslipidemia detection, etc.

Elena Yaroslavskaya considered that participation in the largest Russian cardiological forum is very important. When physicians learn about new methods for identifying and treating cardiological pathology first-hand, this not only helps in daily practice, but also stimulates scientific research.

Additionally, on the second day of the Congress, at the symposium on population risk factors phenotypes and cardiovascular diseases outcomes among the Siberian population, a report “Psychosocial risk factors for cardiovascular diseases in young men and women according to cross-sectional epidemiological study of middle urbanized West Siberian city” was presented (authors: Akimova E. V., Gakova E. I., Kayumova M. M., Kuznetsov V. A.). Ekaterina Akimova MD, PhD, Head of the Laboratory of Epidemiology and Prevention of Cardiovascular Diseases shared that the report was met with great interest because cardiovascular disease development at young age is at the peak of the problem, wh ere associations of traditional risk factors and psychosocial risk factors come to the fore, especially relevant at the present time and in the process of population ontogenesis in Western Siberia.
