Description

Our scientists Nina P. Shurkevich, MD, PhD, Leading Scientific Researcher and Georgiy S. Pushkarev, MD, PhD, Scientific Researcher took part in EuroPrevent 2019 - the annual Congress of the European Association of Preventive Cardiology.

Dr. Shurkevich presented 3 poster presentations: “Hyperplastic alterations of heart and vessels in the Arctic watch”, “Influence of low physical activity on arterial hypertension and life quality in the Far north watch”, “Abdominal obesity as a risk factor for comorbidity progression in patients with arterial hypertension”.

Dr. Pushkarev presented 5 poster presentations. He noted “The primary prevention is the most important aspect: overcoming addictions, sporting activities, proper nutrition, changing the lifestyle as a whole. Expenses for cardiovascular diseases treatment are quite high in Europe, but situation has not changed a lot. Hence, prevention helps to save lives and costs. We as our European colleagues have investigated the same problems: analyzing patient`s physical activity after coronary interventions, researching the effect of patient`s type D personality on mortality, developing the risk assessment scale of population and many others.”

More than 1200 cardiologists, general practitioners, basic scientists and young researchers from 50 countries took part in the Congress.
