World Congress of Cardiology (WCC) and Cardiovascular Health took place in Dubai, UAE from 5 to 8 December 2018. Participants from 120 countries took part in the Congress. This year, Tyumen Cardiology Research Center presented six poster presentations at the Congress, including moderated one.

The purpose of the meeting is to draw public attention to the importance of conducting a timely examination of cardiovascular diseases for their early detection.

Elena Yaroslavskaya, MD, PhD, Leading Scientific Researcher, ultrasound diagnostics specialist at the WCC spoke about echocardiographic predictors of super-response to cardiac resynchronisation therapy.

“I also presented the works of my colleagues: Dr. Tatiana Enina about influence of sex hormones on the effect of cardiac resynchronisation therapy in men, Dr. Anna Soldatova about "early" response to cardiac resynchronisation therapy and mortality, Dr. Georgy Pushkarev about the impact of socio-economic status on mortality in patients with coronary artery disease after percutaneous coronary interventions”, shared Elena Yaroslavskaya. Within the poster section, she also presented the features of clinical status of patients with coronary artery disease, atrial fibrillation, and gender differences in such patients with functional mitral regurgitation.

A feature of the poster section this year was its electronic format, which provided more opportunities for participants: electronic search allowed to save time, chose and look through the maximum possible posters on the topic of interest.

Within the Congress, several symposia were held on cardiovascular diseases in women, since these diseases remain the “number one killer” in this gender group. The main trends of behavioral and pharmacological approaches to prevention and treatment of cardiovascular diseases in women were discussed.

Professor Fausto Pinto (Portugal), one of the leading world cardiologist, Director of Lisbon Institute of Cardiology, Vice-President of the European Society of Cardiology was elected the President of the World Heart Federation (which is the main organizers of the WCC) for 2019-2020 years.

Taking into account the importance of the topic and the great interest of the audience, the World Congress of Cardiology will now be organized not once every two years, but annually: the next one will be held in August 2019 in Paris together with the European Society of Cardiology Congress.
