International congress «EUROECHO-Imaging 2013» took place in Istanbul (Turkey) on 11-14 December 2013. Congress is truly considered to be one of the biggest scientific and diagnostic meetings in Europe, annually more than 3000 scientists, cardiologists, ultrasound diagnostics and other specialists are gathering there.
The main congress organizer is European Association of Cardiovascular Imaging (EACVI) (former European Association of Echocardiography), which is celebrating 10th anniversary since its foundation this year.
Participants had the chance to see the latest achievements in non-invasive diagnostics of cardiovascular diseases, to meet the leading specialists and to visit the exhibition provided the opportunity to exchange with key industry experts on critical areas of development and research in cardiovascular products and therapies.
Prof. Evgeny Shkolnik (Moscow) said “Congress is becoming an educational event for various participants. Scientific part of Congress includes poster presentations and several oral sections. It gives an opportunity to satisfy your scientific interests, to understand the actual situation in your topic and to discuss joint projects with your
colleagues. Big attention was paid to 3D echo, valve pathology and echocardiography-guided interventions. Now myocardial deformation has grown from the phase of investigation of method to the phase of investigation of clinic and prognostic value with various diseases”.
Prof. Vadim Kuznetsov, Director of Tyumen Cardiology Center, made 2 poster presentations at the Congress. One of them was devoted to chronic mitral regurgitation and localization of coronary lesions in post myocardial
infarction men, and the second – to a new modification of isometric handgrip stress echocardiography for detection of coronary artery disease: combination of exercise and emotional stress echocardiography.
For the second time at the exhibition of international ultrasound societies (International Echo Area) held within the Congress Russia was represented by 2 scientific societies: Russian Chapter of the International Society of Cardiovascular Ultrasound (RC ISCU) founded in Tyumen Cardiology Center and headed by Vadim Kuznetsov and by Section of Echocardiography of the Russian Society of Cardiology (RSC) headed by Prof. Simon Matskeplishvili (Moscow). The Societies presented a joint poster and information materials.
