The main goal of the forum remains the same –to discuss the most important issues of the cardiovascular system, to learn about new advancements in the field of cardiology and future changes in current clinical
practice. More than 28,000 attendees fr om 140 countries participated in the Congress. The spotlight of the ESC Congress 2012 was “From Bench to Practice”. According to the organizers, translating innovating science into daily
clinical practice is a challenge shared by clinical scientists and clinical physicians.
Georgiy Pushkarev, junior researcher of the Laboratory of Cardiovascular Disease Epidemiology and Prevention noted that such meetings had a great importance in the world medicine. “I visited the European Congress of
Cardiology for the first time. It is a very serious event: an extensive scientific program, a huge number of
attendees from all over the world, a high level of organization. I took part in a poster session, wh ere I
presented a poster on social risk factors of mortality in the Tyumen region. Also I was able to listen to some very interesting oral presentations of experts from India and Europe”.
According to Elena Yaroslavskaya, specialist of Instrumental Diagnostics Laboratory, the forum had a really high level of organization. She said: “On the way from the airport and in the city we saw banners with the
information about the Congress. It’s great. It’s nice that participants are welcomed so warmly. Of course, the
scientific program aroused great interest. I especially liked case study sessions. At the Congress a new definition of “myocardial infarction” was given and eight guidelines (5 new and 3 revised guidelines) for the diagnosis and management of cardiovascular diseases were presented”. Elena Yaroslavskaya also mentioned that participating in
such events provides the opportunity to get acquainted with the legendary professionals – the authors of the largest studies.
Apart from E. I. Yaroslavskaya and G. S. Pushkarev, Tyumen Cardiology Center was represented by Director Professor Vadim A. Kuznetsov, Deputy Head Physician Tatiana Sereda, Head of the Ultrasound Diagnostics
Department Dmitry Krinochkin, and Head of the Outpatient Department Elena Gultyaeva.
The tradition of the Congress began in 1950. It was founded by representatives of the National Societies of
Cardiology from Belgium, Denmark, Finland, France, Greece, Italy, Netherlands, Norway, Portugal, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, United Kingdom and Yugoslavia. Since 1988 the forum was held every four years, since 1988 the
