On May 25, the XI International Congress "Cardiology at a Crossroads of Sciences" started at Tyumen Cardiology Research Center, which is being held online for the first time. Without guests in the hall and alive communication, but solemnly, with concern for the health of colleagues and with a rich scientific program. This year, a three-day telematic meeting was dedicated to current issues of managing patients with cardiovascular pathology and new coronavirus infection.
Tatiana I. Petelina, MD, PhD, Chairman of the Organizing Committee of the Congress, Deputy director for research, Head of the Laboratory of Clinical & Diagnostic and Molecular & Genetic Studies gave opening ceremony speech. She mentioned that unfortunately, in 2020, due to the pandemic, our center was unable to hold our traditional congress and celebrate the 35th anniversary of our center. This year, realizing high responsibility for the health of colleagues, team of the center was holding online Congress for the first time. She shared that such conception will open up new opportunities for interaction, expand the geography of participants, and allow discussing even wider range of professional issues and give encouragement to integrate new educational programs and technologies into the development of innovative digital systems in order to introduce personalized medicine into modern society.
Together with Tatyana Ivanovna, guests were greeted by Marina Igorevna Bessonova, MD, Acting Director of Tyumen Cardiology Research Center, Honored Doctor of the Russian Federation and Lyudmila Ivanovna Gapon, MD, PhD, Professor, the Head of Clinical Cardiology Department, Honored Scientist of the Russian Federation.
One of the video greetings for lecturers and guests of the center was made by Rostislav Sergeevich Karpov, MD, PhD, Professor, the Scientific Supervisor of Cardiology Research Institute of Tomsk NRMC, Member of the Russian Academy of Sciences. He said that he was especially pleased to welcome wonderful team of our center and all participants of the Congress, which traditionally took place with a symposium on echocardiography and vascular ultrasound. He mentioned that it always attracted large scientific and medical audience. Professor Karpov considered the Congress was special, because actually, it was dedicated to the 35th anniversary of our Research Center. He also gave a speech to colleagues, who had passed a “thorny path”, but to his mind all difficulties that our center had experienced, reinforced the team. He said that the team of Tomsk NRMC was proud that over the years our center had grown into such a high-tech, modern, scientific, clinical, educational center with the most modern technologies. Professor Karpov supposed that all that time our scientific centers operated as one team; Tyumen Cardiology Research center represented Tomsk NRMC with dignity and were a part of it. He also congratulated on the beginning of the Congress and wished huge creative success for the benefit of Russian cardiology and for the benefit of patients.
On the first day of the online Congress, speakers made presentations on cardiac consequences of cancer treatment, heart rate and its relationship with life expectancy, atrial fibrillation, cardiogenetics, sudden cardiac death, diagnosis of Farby disease, Takotsubo syndrome, new perspectives on arrhythmology, peculiarities of management in patients from the Far North , obstructive sleep apnea syndrome, etc.
