On May 25-27, the XI International Congress "Cardiology at a Crossroads of Sciences" will be held for the first time in online format on the basis of our Center. For the period of three days, foreign and Russian specialists will present 80 reports on topical issues in diagnosis and treatment of cardiovascular and concomitant diseases.

Congress program of this year will focus on cardiogenetics and disease diagnosis using sequencing technologies to identify genetic mutations. The prevention and rehabilitation of patients with COVID-19, as well as cardiovascular and blood vessels disease treatment with help of up to date high technologies and equipment, remain relevant. Separate symposia will be devoted to innovations in treatment of arterial hypertension and cardiac arrhythmias, including care of the Far North inhabitants.

Children's experts will discuss dilated cardiomyopathy condition, that is one of diseases of the heart muscle, characterized by decrease in myocardial contractile function, development of heart failure and often poor prognosis. Experts will also give consideration about type 1 mucopolysaccharidosis: rare hereditary connective tissue disease associated with metabolic disorders. It occurs due to mutations in various genes and is accompanied by damage of bones, cartilage and respiratory system, etc. If it is untreated, it can lead to serious complications and death.

Scientists of our Center will present results on one-year follow-up of patients who have recovered fr om coronavirus infection. Preliminary analysis of results showed that cardiovascular diseases were diagnosed in more than half of patients. The most common is arterial hypertension; the least is coronary heart disease. Since the infection affects almost all organs and systems, important distinguishing feature of this study is its multidisciplinary nature; many specialists of related fields are involved: pulmonologists, neurologists, ophthalmologist, psychotherapist, nephrologist, psychologist. This multi- and interdisciplinary approach is consonant with the Congress name.

Mortality from cardiovascular diseases in Tyumen region stopped growing several years ago. This happened thanks to coronary artery surgeries, which are performed by vascular centers. Angiosurgeons of our Center are more and more faced with difficult cases. Techniques and technologies that provide the most accurate image of artery lumen and all its elements inside in real time help to take on the most difficult patients. This will also be discussed at the Congress.

Experts will also discuss other topical issues: arrhythmias caused by physical exertion; low-traumatic methods of treating chronic heart failure; "Broken heart syndrome"; medical care peculiarities for rotational shift workers in the Far North; new technologies in echocardiography; risks of obesity for cardiovascular system; and wide range of other professional issues.

One of the foreign lecturers of the forum became Eli Ovsisher, professor from Israel, director of Laboratory of electrophysiology of Ben-Gurion University. This year he will present his report: “Heart rate and life expectancy”. It is known that fast heart rate affects cardiovascular system: it increases work of ventricles of the heart, oxygen consumption by myocardium, arterial stiffness, etc. This means that heart rate can contribute to development and acceleration of certain diseases, which lead to changes of life expectancy. Another foreign expert Natalya Mitkovskaya, MD, PhD, Professor, Director of Republican Scientific and Practical Center "Cardiology" of the Ministry of Health of the Republic of Belarus, will talk about specific effect of coronavirus on the heart and her own experience in treating acute coronary syndrome with this infection.

It should be mentioned that Aleksander V. Moor, the Governor of the Tyumen Region greeted participants: “2020 and pandemic made everyone of us look differently on ordinary things, live and work according to new rules, but even under these circumstances you have continued to fight various infections, develop diagnostics, increase life expectancy and quality of life. Health of residents is paid great attention in Tyumen region. Fight against cardiovascular diseases is a special direction of “The Healthcare” National Program, wh ere namely the cardiologists are at the first line. I am convinced, that online platforms of XI International Congress allow to exchange opinions on prevention and treatment of cardiovascular diseases, expand and strengthen cooperation, aimed at preserving health of Russians." Vadim A. Stepanov, Dr. Sci. (Biol.), Professor, Corresponding Member of the Russian Academy of Sciences, Acting Director of the Tomsk National Research Medical Center, also pointed out in his welcoming speech: “Today, more than ever, priority attention is paid to issues of preserving and improving people's health. This became the central item on the agenda of the Congress, which traditionally brought together leading scientists, foreign experts, well-known physicians from many regions of our country. I am convinced that the remote format of the Congress will make possible to discuss even wider range of professional problems, exchange experiences and best methods in treatment and diagnosis of patients with cardiovascular and concomitant diseases. I want to highlight the great work of the event organization, insightful program, the significance and relevance of such format! Let the online Congress be held in a constructive manner, be fruitful, active, interesting, and all the proposals come true."

Physicians and scientists agree that the main direction of medicine in the modern world remains personalized approach and individual treatment program, as well as issues on complex genetic studies that allow predicting risks of developing many diseases.

Among speakers of the Congress are experts from Moscow, St. Petersburg, Tomsk, Tyumen, Novosibirsk, Khabarovsk, Yekaterinburg, Yamburg, Krasnoyarsk, Salekhard, Samara, Chelyabinsk, Kemerovo, Barnaul, Izhevsk.
