“As a child, I used to spend all my spare time in the hospital where my mother worked. That is why I always knew that I will become a doctor. At the university I was choosing between becoming a cardiologist and dermatovenerologist. After practice at Tyumen Cardiology Research Center I understood that I want not only treat people but also save their lives. It is possible doing scientific work as well.

My interest to science arose at my fourth year of university. Lyudmila I. Gapon, Professor and our research supervisor, invited me to visit Tyumen Cardiology Research Center where I started to write my first publications. I am very grateful to Professor Gapon for everything I know in science. I advise everyone to choose your research supervisor similar in character and views to you. Be active. I remember our start step by step: our electrocardiography, then we were allowed to manage 24-hour monitors and finally we made patient examinations. At first, it seemed too complicated and we were afraid of making a mistake, but in the end we gained confidence.

Key topic of my scientific works is radiofrequency ablation of renal arteries in patients with malignant hypertension. Within my study, I selected 10-15% patients out of total amount of patients of Cardiology Research Institute of Tomsk NRMC and Tyumen Cardiology Research Center treated with this technology. After the operation we have been watching those patients for 6 years. Now we are conducting international multicentric trials, medications trials and we are keeping the register of patients with high cardiovascular risk.

The trials and long period of patient watch prove the efficiency of radio frequent denervation. Now we need to follow the markers defining whether the treatment matches patients or it will be less effective.

– Please, continue the statement: “To be a young scientist is…”

- To be a young scientist to me is a great responsibility. It is complicated to combine clinical and scientific work. We publish our works, win the grants, and take part in the international congresses. I won the 1st prize at the session of young scientists within XXIV Annual International Conference «Cardiology Update» (Tyumen, 2017). Young specialist needs to have an opportunity to exchange experience with local and foreign colleagues. We won the grant to participate in the Milan conference but we did not go due to pandemia.

– What science mean to you?

– Nowadays science is popular as sports, healthy lifestyle and self-development. Doing science is considered to be perspective and respective career among the youth. Science for me is finding new treatment methods to apply in my practice. I especially like to work with new medications against heart insufficiency. It is a pleasure to see the result of my scientific work, to see healthy and grateful patients.

– How do you recover after the work week?

– I lead active way of life: I go to the gym, do swimming and spend time with my family. I have two children. The elder daughter does figure skating several times a week, and my younger child does Greco-Roman wrestling. Together we go out at weekend, this time is precious to me.
