International Congress of Cardiology is hosted in Tyumen

From May 25 to May 27, the XII International Congress "Cardiology at a Crossroads of Sciences" is being held online on the basis our Center. During three days, Russian and international experts will present 82 reports on the most relevant medical topics. For the first day of the congress, May 25, more than 1000 participants have already registered.

The opening ceremony took place yesterday. Guests were welcomed online by A.V. Moor, the governor of Tyumen region, S.E. Korepanov Chairman of Tyumen Regional Duma, E.V. Shlyakhto, President of the Russian Society of Cardiology, as well as foreign experts, such as Nevin Nanda, President of International Society of Cardiovascular Ultrasound, Honored Professor of Medicine and Cardiovascular Diseases, University of Alabama (Birmingham, USA).

Vadim Stepanov, the director of Tomsk NRMC, corresponding member shared his opinion in welcoming speech. He considered that one of the valuable characteristics of the congress, as before, was practical orientation of the scientific program and its relevance: thus, one of the key topics for discussion would be the study of the consequences of COVID-19.
In greetings, Sergey Popov, the director of Cardiology Research Institute, Tomsk National Research Medical Center, Academician of the Russian Academy of Sciences shared that in order to achieve results together, it was necessary to be in constant dialogue with each other and to achieve effective feedback. That is why it was important that the agenda of the May conference would address the most up to date issues: struggle with post-COVID consequences, development of high technologies, possibilities of ultrasound diagnostics, modern treatment of arterial hypertension, translational and personalized medicine, so, topics that actually affect the life of every person and the whole country. It should be mentioned that the forum was of national importance and had very great attention.

Scientists and practitioners discussed rhythm and conduction disorders of the heart and children, recent advances in echocardiography, genetic features in cardiovascular diseases, issues of cardiovascular imaging (this symposium was dedicated to the memory of Vadim Anatolyevich Kuznetsov, Professor, Honored Scientist of the Russian Federation, who passed away at the end of last year), association of cardiological and neurological problems, heart transplantation.
It would be impossible to avoid the issue of COVID-19. Experts are going to discuss this topic today, May 26, at the symposium on Covid-19, the development of thrombosis and the fight against them.” It should be mentioned that scientists of our Center were examining patients who had recovered from coronavirus infection for a year.

At the congress, important areas will be the possibilities of ultrasound, topical issues of medicine in the Arctic and high technologies in the treatment of cardiovascular diseases. International experts also take part in the congress: Navin Nanda, professor from the USA, will talk about the latest achievements in the field of echocardiography; Thomas Binder, Professor from Austria will discuss heart transplantation; Vito Maurizio Parato, Professor from Italy will share his thoughts about myocarditis associated with COVID-19. The geography of speakers is also large within the country: in addition to experts from Minsk, Belgium, Kazakhstan, experts from Moscow, St. Petersburg, Tomsk, Tyumen, Novosibirsk, Yekaterinburg, Chelyabinsk, Arkhangelsk, and Barnaul will report at the congress.

During the days of the congress, Tyumen also hosts a scientific and practical conference and work shop for specialists of endovascular surgery. Leading Russian physicians share their experience in applying modern technologies during intravascular surgeries in patients with coronary artery disease.
