On 21-23 October the greatest Russian scientific and medical forum - the Russian National Congress of Cardiologists- 2021 took place in Saint Petersburg. Doctors and scientists from Tyumen Cardiology Research Center presented their oral reports.

Every year, experts from all regions of Russia, as well as leading foreign scientists, take part in the Congress. This contributes to the implementation of the state policy for the development of health care, the creation of new methods for the prevention, diagnosis and treatment of heart and vascular diseases, improves the quality of specialized care for the population, and reduces cardiovascular morbidity and mortality in the Russian Federation.

Shlyachto E.V., President of the Russian Society of Cardiology, Academician of the Russian Academy of Medical Science, claimed in his greeting speech: «We meet today under difficult conditions. Russian cardiologists, who have made a huge contribution to the fight against a new coronavirus infection, have returned to providing specialized planned and emergency care, to active research work and educational activities. On this path, many difficulties await us: the danger of a new wave of the pandemic still remains: tens of thousands of patients who have had an infection need rehabilitation, many of them are faced with an exacerbation of cardiovascular pathology, but I am convinced that the Russian cardiological community can today become an example in about how to intensify the work and achieve world-class results. This will require not only resources, but also innovative solutions: the transition to personalized and patient-centered medicine; development of integrative medical care. Bridging the gap between the rapid development of technology and the level of medical education should be a priority for us. It was in these areas that the scientific program of the congress was prepared, within which the most modern achievements in cardiology and related fields are presented, and in this context the motto of the congress "Cardiology in 2021 of the 21st century - new challenges, new achievements" is as relevant as possible.»

A team of Tyumen scientists presented the results of examinations of the patients who underwent coronavirus pneumonia: “Echocardiographic parameters of patients who underwent COVID-19 pneumonia three months after discharge from the hospital», «Parameters of cardiovascular profile of patients who underwent COVID-19 pneumonia three months after discharge from the hospital depending on the initial severity of lungs injury», «Dynamics of the indicators of cardiovascular profile of patients who underwent COVID-19 pneumonia, three months after discharge from the hospital». Besides, the following works were presented at the section of e-posters with the oral reports: «Indicators of cardiovascular and psychological profile of young military men who underwent uncomplicated and complicated by pneumonia new coronavirus infection (COVID-19)», «Dynamics of echocardiographic indicators of patients with COVID-19 pneumonia during the hospital admission and three months after discharge from the hospital» and «Non-invasive estimation of pulmonary vascular resistance in patients who underwent COVID-19».

Elena Yaroslavskaya, MD, PhD, Professor of Educational and Methodological Department, Diagnostic Medical Sonographer, Head and Leading Scientific Researcher of the Laboratory of Instrumental Diagnostics of Tyumen Cardiology Research Center, shared that the data of their scientific works arose a big interest among the colleagues. She also said: “The fact that 3 oral and 3 poster presentations from Tyumen Cardiology Research Center on COVID were presented at the main cardiology congress of the country speaks of the very high relevance of this problem today. Probably, there is no person who would not be touched by this topic in one way or another, so our reports caused a lively discussion. Of course, more than one section was devoted to the problem of the new coronavirus infection, and it was extremely useful to discuss this problem live with colleagues. One of the most important conclusions for me was the realization that our work really helps people: the difference of our observation is that not a single patient has died! I think this happened to a large extent due to the fact that even at the start the study was properly planned: a multidisciplinary approach and systematic observation are fully justified. Of course, the high qualification of research specialists also contributes. We will do our best to keep our mortality rate zero.”

At one of the arrhythmology sections, Grigoriy Kolunin, MD, PhD, Head of the Department of X-ray Surgical Methods for Diagnosis and Treatment of Cardiovascular Diseases #2 presented a report on indications and new approach to the correction of the right His bundle branch block – the so called His bundle pacing. This method has already been mastered by Dr. Kolunin and implemented in the work of Tyumen Cardiology Research Center.

Another report was prepared by Aleksandr Akimov, Candidate of Social Sciences, Senior Scientific Researcher of Laboratory of Epidemiology and Prevention of Cardiovascular Diseases, “Age trends of nonconventional factors of cardiovascular risks in the middle-urbanized Western Siberia city: morbidity, correlations, gender aspects”.

Issues discussed at the Congress: improvement of cardiac care, fundamental research, new medical technologies, pharmacotherapy of cardiovascular diseases, diabetes mellitus and cardiovascular diseases, comorbid conditions in cardiology, congenital pathology of the cardiovascular system, cardiological problems in perinatology and pediatrics, heart transplantation, problems of rehabilitation of cardiac patients, healthcare organization and public health, organization of nursing and other topical issues.
