On April 18-19, All-Russian Forum of Young investigators “Medical Science: Yesterday, Today, Tomorrow”, dedicated to the 300th anniversary of the Russian Academy of Sciences and the 80th anniversary of the Department of Medical Sciences of the Russian Academy of Sciences was held in Moscow. Nikita Shirokov, MD, Ph.D., Scientific Researcher, ultrasound diagnostics specialists of our center, made an oral report.
Nikita Evgenievich mentioned that his report on post-Covid syndrome with heart failure in presence of preserved ejection fraction had been received with great interest.
Dr. Shirokov shared that diagnostic test such as stress echocardiography on a recumbent bicycle (or horizontal bicycle ergometer) had allowed determination the cause of breath shortness in patients, splitting post-Covid syndrome and heart failure. It was found the contractile function of the heart was restored within 2 years in patients without heart failure. The discussion was active, many questions were asked by members of the forum presidium (including two academicians of the Russian Academy of Sciences!) and from the audience. He said that other young scientists also had a very high level of research work. He was very glad to take part in the event, which was also dedicated to a landmark event - the 300th anniversary of the Russian Academy of Sciences.
It should be mentioned that the our Laboratory of Instrumental Diagnostics of Scientific Department of Instrumental Research Methods has been studying the COVID-19 effect on structural and functional parameters of cardiovascular, bronchopulmonary systems, neurological and psychosocial status of patients since 2020.
