“Become a hero for your heart!” - Such a motto was chosen by the World Heart Federation for celebration of Heart Day 2019. This holiday is celebrated every year on the last Sunday of September in many countries including Russia.
For many years, Tyumen Cardiology Research Center has been the organizer of preventive actions that have a wide public resonance and are designed to draw attention to the problem of prevalence of cardiovascular diseases, recall risk factors, and talk about prevention and the benefits of healthy lifestyle.
This year, on the week preceding World Heart Day, our physicians Anastasiya Takkand, MD, Cardiologist of the Department of Urgent Cardiology and Ksenya Avdeeva, MD, PhD, Cardiologist, Scientific Researcher of the Department of Arterial Hypertension, went to Tyumen schools with an important mission to tell pupils how to stay healthy and how to take care of their family and friends.
Anastasia and Ksenya gave lectures at school №70 and gymnasium №1 and school of physics and mathematics. The program included reports on heart functioning, impact of bad habits on it, main symptoms of myocardial infarction, stroke, hypertensive crisis and many others.
“Adolescence is one of the crisis periods in the life of every person. At this time, it is important to lay a solid foundation for a happy future. The goal of our preventive meetings is to help students choose a healthy lifestyle path. We hope that these meetings will further broaden students` outlooks and bring them benefits in practical life, in the formation of healthy habits. Our physicians answered many interesting questions after their presentations. It was good to know that modern adolescents are concerned about heart functioning, deposition of cholesterol, impact of sleep and physical activity on health, various studies in this area. Our experts also had great pleasure in communicating with the pupils, and were thankful for their activity and curiosity.
Tyumen Cardiology Center launched sports Internet challenge on its Instagram account @cardiotmn, inviting everyone to perform useful and simple exercises for their health, from September 23 to 27. Cardiologists and physical therapy instructors recalled that inadequate physical activity (hypodynamia) ranks 4th among mortality causes. Hypertension, smoking and diabetes are the only risk factors that get ahead. Without movements, a person and his blood vessels accumulate too much fat, bones lose calcium and become fragile, and the heart wears out due to excessive stress. Hundreds of researches have proven benefits of active lifestyle! Physical activity of human reduces the risk of cardiovascular diseases, including coronary artery disease and myocardial infarction at any age.
Results of the challenge were summed up on September 30. The most active participants, including well-known Tyumen bloggers, athletes, children and simply active caring citizens, received useful gifts: automatic blood pressure monitors, gift certificates to Tyumen Cardiology Research Center, Nordic walking sticks.
