The opening of jubilee X International Congress «Cardiology at a Crossroad of Sciences» took place at Tyumen Cardiology Research Center. This year for the first time in Russia within the Congress “The days of Belarusian cardiology” will be held: the best specialists will tell about their achievements in the field of cardiology.
The Congress is going to be held up to 24 May, 2019. The participants will have three intensive days: there will be workshops, lectures, poster presentation competition within the Forum.
“This Congress is jubilee, - Vadim A. Stepanov, Acting Director of Tomsk National Research Medical Center of RAS, Professor, Corresponding member of RAS, greeted guests first, - during the ten year history of the Forum, Tyumen has been visited by more than 5000 participants fr om 27 countries of the world and 720 reports were delivered. Over the different years, outstanding leading scientists fr om various countries have been Co-Presidents of our Congresses: Fausto Pinto, Professor, the President of European Society of Cardiology (Portugal), Navin Nanda, Professor (USA), Raymond Erbel (Germany), Nelson Schiller, Professor - the legend of cardiac ultrasound diagnostics, and many others.
It is impossible to organize such a large Forum over a period of 10 years without Officials support. I am grateful to the whole Tyumen region Administration in the person of Aleksander V. Moor, the Governor; Natalia A. Shevchik, First Deputy Governor of the Tyumen region, for a long-term cooperation. I am glad to welcome and to express my thanks to our numerous faculties for their response and participation: this year more than 50 experts fr om 5 countries of the world and from 22 cities of Russia will presented 65 reports on genetics, rheumatology, arrhythmology, urgent and children's cardiology, vascular interventions, ultrasound studies and other topical themes. I thank all guests-participants of the Congress – those, who are here for the first time and who traditionally come to Tyumen for the International Congress in May, which brings together more than 500 specialists every year”.
Natalia A. Shevchik, the first Deputy Governor in the Tyumen region delivered a speech: “Colleagues, on behalf of the Government and the Governor of the Tyumen region could you allow me to greet you at regular International Congress “Cardiology at a Crossroad of Sciences”. We are proud of our Tyumen Cardiology Research Center and hope the current Congress will let to upd ate a medical agenda – to analyze one more time wh ere we are and what should we do to improve life quality of population. This is our predominate goal. The issues discussed within the Congress are undoubtedly acute and actual. Tyumen region population has a high starting level of life expectancy and higher and extremely ambitious challenges are se t for us. They are required uncommon solutions and full-time collaboration both with professional community and with population: to enlighten citizens of the region, to be helpful in quicker understanding of themselves and their organisms, to be engaged in preventive medicine. Today these aspirations are the most important and allow us permanently to rise living standard in the Tyumen region”.
Rostislav S. Karpov, Ph.D., Professor, Member of the Russian Academy of Sciences, Scientific Supervisor of Tomsk NRMC, Scientific Supervisor of Cardiology Research Institute of Tomsk NRMC, Head of the Internal Medicine Department at the Siberian State Medical University of the Ministry of Healthcare of the Russian Federation, noted at the meeting with media representatives: “Congress` title itself “Cardiology at a Crossroad of Sciences” gives an idea that specialists of different medical fields are going to discuss themes relating to various body system diseases. The Congress Program is very diverse: the problems of thrombosis and genetic predisposition to different diseases, achievements in the field of modern medical technologies. Russian Healthcare and medical science face a difficult challenge: to reduce cardiovascular mortality. To achieve this goal the scientific constituent is very considerable, because recent technologies play an increasing role in a health maintenance of modern man and also, mortality decline.”
Nowadays, modern healthcare paradigm itself is changing: medicine possesses genomic technologies, allows composing the complete genomic portrait in a particular patient, to predict his diseases, to prevent them. The technologies are developing. But even if that is the case it will not achieve good results without a competent physician and a responsible patient.
A patient and a physician continue to play the main roles. Even ultramodern medicine cannot be imagined without an attentive physician at a patient's bedside.
The main event of the X International Congress will be Forum “The days of Belarusian cardiology”.
“We have watched the Congresses held on the base of Tyumen Cardiology Research Center with the greatest respect for many years. The names of Tyumen researchers have been recognized for many years and they rank high in our opinion. Notably, today`s relations have moved into a new stage: we came with delegation, which consisted of different institutions` staff members to present properly our achievements in different fields of cardiology, - Natalia P. Mitkovskaya, MD, PhD, Professor, Head of the Department of Cardiology and Internal diseases, Belarussian State Medical University, commented, - At today's plenary meeting Yuriy P. Ostrovskiy, MD, Professor, Head of the Heart Surgery Laboratory of State Institution «Republican Scientific and Practical Centre «Cardiology» , Academician of the Belarusian National Academy of Science, will make a report. This is a person who made the first heart transplantations in the Republic of Belarus and the surgery results reached the world competitive level. He is a leading specialist not only in the Republic of Belarus but also in the world”.
Congress participants were ceremoniously greeted by Yuriy P. Ostrovskiy; Inna B. Kulikova, Director of Healthcare Department of the Tyumen region, Vladimir F. Shuglya, Honorary Consul-General of the Republic of Belarus in Tyumen (Russian Federation).

Among Congress speakers and guests there are well known foreign researchers from Germany, Belgium, Poland. Scientific studies in cardiology and related fields will be presented by famous Russian experts from St. Petersburg, Moscow, Novosibirsk, Tyumen, Saransk, Tomsk, Chelyabinsk, Barnaul, Kemerovo.
On the second day, 23 May 2019, at Tyumen Regional Clinical Hospital, a workshop on cardiac surgery by Yuriy P. Ostrovskiy will be held.
On the third day, 24 May 2019, Symposiums on Ultrasound Diagnostics, Arrhythmology and Rheumatology will be held.
The Scientific Forum is to be held with the assistance of the Ministry of Education and Science of the Russian Federation and Ministry of Health of the Republic of Belarus, also included in the basic organizational activities plan of Healthcare Department of the Tyumen region for 2019 and applied for accreditation in the system of continuous medical education..
