On February 8, 2019 on the Day of Russian Science, IX Young Researchers’ Science practical Session on cardiovascular diseases was held in Kemerovo.
Shirokov Nikita, junior Scientific Researcher of Tyumen Cardiology Research Center, made an oral presentation. Shirokov N. was awarded with a special prize for the best investigation at Open Scientific Researches and Projects Competition among 13 young scientists from Kemerovo, Tomsk, Omsk and Tyumen.
Workshops opened the scientific session.
PhDs and MDs from the scientific research Institute for complex issues of cardiovascular diseases shared their experience with young colleagues. Within the event, young scientists took part in Open Scientific Researches and Projects Competition among poster and oral presentations according to the main issues of the conference.
Participants made their presentations about innovative technologies in diagnostics and treatment of blood circulatory system diseases, declared about the perspective tendencies of basic researches in this field and up-to-date approaches in providing medical care in case of cardiovascular diseases.
The special prize for the best scientific investigation in the field of bioprosthetics and cardiac surgery was given to Shirokov N., junior Scientific Researcher of Laboratory of Instrumental Diagnostics, scientific Department of Instrumental research methods of our research center. He made a report “Mechanical dyssynchrony as a super response predictor at the cardiac resynchronization therapy (CRT)”.
“In the treatment of patients with chronic cardiac insufficiency (Note: a condition when heart chambers expand and lose the ability to contract synchronously, the heart has decreased pump function and it stops maintaining necessary blood circulation for an organism) physicians raise a constant question: whether to implant a pacemaker or not. In these case physicians pay attention to the so-called predictors - premonitory symptoms – response and super response. If these predictors exist, a pacemaker should better be implanted, but if there are no premonitory symptoms, the surgery will be ineffective.”
Our scientific group consisted of Kuznetsov V.A., Professor; Soldatova A., PhD; Shirokov N., junior Scientific Researcher; Krinochkin D.V., Head, Department of Ultrasound Diagnostics, is searching for these criterions.
Nikita Shirokov is 25 years old, he performs echocardiography of the patients on his own for cardiac resynchronization therapy (implantation of a special multifunctional device with electrodes - heart pacemaker, which controls heartbeat and helps to contract heart chamber synchronously) selection.
“Eight or nine patients from ten have a positive response to CRT due to revealed criterions. We offer physicians to use these methods for the purpose of arrangement a surgery. It was difficult to perform, especially during the discussion after presentation, - Shirokov shared, - we were recommended to strike into the subject. All of my colleagues made their reports quite well and I was listening with interest. Especially, reports about genetics. One of the scientific researches of our medical center became genetic researches too. By the example of my colleagues` studies, I found out impressive results of this tendency and in general, enjoyed participating very much."
It should be mentioned that organizers of the Сonference were Scientific Research Institute for Complex Issues of Cardiovascular Diseases and Russian Society of Cardiology. Young scientists and practicing physicians under 35 year old took part in the event. Abstracts of all participants of Young Researchers’ Science practical Session will be published in the Complex Issues of Cardiovascular Diseases Journal, which is listed in Higher Attestation Commission.
