On 17 December 2018 an interregional scientific workshop «Myocardial revascularization 2018 – definition, strategy, tactics» was held in Novosibirsk National Research Medical Center by Academician E.N. Meshalkin. Interventional Cardiologists of Tyumen Cardiology Research Center Ivan S. Bessonov, MD, PhD and Stanislav S. Sapozhnikov MD, PhD made oral presentations at the workshop and had two-day training under the direction of Medical Center experts.
The Center holds such meetings several times a year with the aim to discuss problems of interventional cardiology and angiology, to find solutions and to provide assistance not just getting competencies but also to apply them in practice. Dr. Sapozhnikov told that the meeting was held as interactive dialogue and each participant could address a wide audience. He mentioned that the European Society of Cardiology issued a number of new recommendations their speciality. There have been actually significant changes in these recommendations. Our doctors examined them in details, found out the reason of these changes appearing and their weak and strong sides. Moreover, they presented several clinical cases and observations from their practice. Apart from the lectures, our cardiologists obtained practical experience directly in the operating room.
Stanislav highlighted that Novosibirsk National Research Medical Center is a leader in the modern cardiac surgery in the Russian Federation, and it is unique and valuable chance for every physician to be trained here. Furthermore, the cardiologist told that they were very grateful for getting new knowledges and glad to share them with colleagues.
Oleg V. Krestyaninov, MD, Head of the Department of Cardiac Surgery No. 2 of Interventional Сardiology Medical Center and our cardiologists performed a procedure of fractional flow reserve measurement for a patient with multiple comorbidities. This procedure was effectively applying for a last few years at Tyumen Cardiology Research Center. After medical assessment, the cardiologists revealed indications for stenting and the patient was successfully operated. For their part, Dr. Krestyaninov and his team helped our doctors improve their professionalism in performing of chronic total coronary occlusion recanalization.
It should be reminded that in November 2018, interventional cardiologists of our Center were the first in Tyumen to apply successfully this rare technique in the most complicated clinical case, restoring an artery to a patient from Yamal.
