On 7-9 June, the annual meeting of the ESC Council on Cardiovascular Nursing and Allied Professions EUROHEARTCARE aimed at helping support healthcare professionals deliver the best care possible to patients with cardiovascular disease, took place in Dublin (Ireland).
Alexander Akimov, PhD, Scientific Researcher from Tyumen Cardiology Research Center took part in the meeting and presented 4 poster presentations devoted to the prevention and rehabilitation of cardiac patients.
“In our work, we considered different risk factors, such as presence or absence of social support, stress at work and at home, patients’ attitude to their health,” told Alexander. “Nowadays relation between cardiovascular diseases and mental state is one of the urgent issues. More and more often scientists mark the importance of patient relatives’ support, stress level decreasing and personal health care. Mental state affects treatment results as much as surgery or taking medicine.”
Alexander marked that at the conference there was a report on a smartphone app that would let patients control their weight and physical activity rate on their own very easily. Moreover, they announced some other projects to help the elderly patients with heart failure improve their quality of life at home, learn self-help, take medicine using current technologies, etc.
More than 500 specialists from 40 countries took part in EuroHeartCare.
