The first part of Tyumen Cardiology Research Center scientists’ new monograph “Coronary Atherosclerosis: Tyumen Register Data” on an urgent modern cardiology issue – atherosclerosis diagnostics – was issued.
It is known that the majority of infarctions occur because of atherosclerosis plaques rupture. Fatal outcome could be prevented if doctors found a way to detect the disease on early stage. Forecast based only on traditional risk factors does not allow to detect all the dangers. In this work, Tyumen Cardiology Research Center specialists – Vadim Kuznetsov, MD, professor, Honoured Scientist of the Russian Federation, Deputy Director for scientific work; Elena Yaroslavskaya, MD, leading scientific researcher, ultrasound and functional diagnostics doctor – cover approaches to coronary atherosclerosis detection on different stages of the disease, describe mathematical methods of data processing, visualizing and invasive diagnostics ways.
Tyumen coronary angiography register is a unique database. Vadim Kuznetsov established it more than 25 years ago, and since then it has been used to collect not only coronary angiography data but also examination results of more than 24 000 of patients. Working with such a large (even for world measures) database helps to understand some coronary angiography aspects that are not even known yet and develop new ways to prevent the disease.
Valery Sandrikov, MD, professor, Academician of Russian Academy of Sciences, Honoured Scientist of the Russian Federation, Head of clinical physiology, instrumental and X-ray diagnostics department of Russian Petrovsky Scientific Surgery Center was invited to be a reviewer.
The book will be very useful for cardiologists, ultrasonic diagnostics specialists and general practitioners, outpatient department workers, medical institutes of higher education students. Elena Yaroslavskaya mentioned that material for the second part of the book is already collected. They plan to issue it next year.
