IX International Congress “Cardiology at a Crossroad of Sciences” has begun at our Cardiology Research Center. Leading foreign and Russian specialists will deliver lectures and reports on up to date cardiovascular diagnostics and treatment issues and other associated diseases within the next three days.
Vadim Kuznetsov, MD, PhD, FESC, FACC, FISCU, Professor of Cardiology, Honored Scientist of the Russian Federation, Scientific Supervisor notes the IX International Congress is devoted to the relationship between cardiological, oncological and psychiatric diseases. Diagnostics and treatment with the help of new hi-tech equipment are still a current issue. Aggressive treatment methods, currently applied against oncological diseases, lead to cardiovascular diseases. Unfortunately, these methods negatively affect the heart and vessels. It is very important to cooperate with oncologists very closely to minimize negative consequences.
In addition, there is a strong interaction between patient`s positive attitude and successful treatment of cardiovascular diseases. For instance, depression has the strongest impact on results of surgeries and further patient`s rehabilitation. Our scientists carried out researches confirming an importance of social support. If a family, colleagues and friends support and encourage a patient, recovery chances are much higher. Vadim Kuznetsov mentioned the growth of cardiovascular diseases mortality stopped in Tyumen region five years ago. It happened thanks to new vascular centers carried out coronary artery bypass surgeries. The amount of cardiovascular interventions are almost the same as in European clinics. However, some problems of access to cardiology care exist. An expensive pacemaker implantation surgery is one of the difficulties.
Other relevant issues are going to discuss at the congress: arrhythmias, caused by excessive exercises; heart failure invasive treatment methods; heart failure diagnostics in children; behavioral and psychosocial risk factors of cardiovascular diseases development; introduction of hi-tech equipment, etc.
One of the foreign faculties was Professor Vito Maurizio Parato from the School of Medicine of the Marche Polytechnical University (Italy). Professor has come to Tyumen for the third time. He will presented a report on Malignant Mitral Valve Prolapse. This pathology is widespread among young people; it becomes fatal for one in a thousand. Therefore, it is necessary to make efforts to diagnose and treat the disease in time. Eli Ovsyshcher, Director of the Electrophysiology Laboratory of the Ben-Gurion University (Israel) will deliver a presentation on groundbreaking issue in Cardiology; its description was published in scientific anglophone and francophone literature a few years ago. The issue, he is going to discuss, is extrasystoles - premature cardiac contractions, caused by a heart muscle damage due to “harmless” heart rhythm disturbance. Such disturbances were considered as cosmetic for many years. But, in recent years, it has become clear that they can cause severe lesions.
Valeriy Sandrikov, Academician of RAS, Head of the Department of Clinical Phycology, Instrumental and Radiology Diagnostics, Russian Petrovsky Scientific Center of Surgery, Honored Scientist of Russian Federation shared new cardiovascular diseases treatment technologies (based on mathematical modeling) were integtated all over the world. Innovations should not frighten. It is necessary to tell about modern technologies and the main thing ― to introduce them in the Russian physicians` practice everywhere.
Participating at the opening ceremony, Viktor Rein, Deputy Chairman of Tyumen region Duma noted, that Tyumen Cardiology Research team was doing its best to make a breakthrough in all directions of modern medicine.
Russian medicine has to make many steps to get closer to the international standards. However, these precisely international meetings allow learning from experience of foreign colleagues and improving skills. Rein is sure, that the Russian medical society will do everything possible to be at the leading positions in healthcare provision in our country.
Participants and guests of the Congress claim the main direction of modern medical science is a personalized approach. It is necessary to apply not a standard treatment scheme, but to develop an individual program of treatment, which will able to take into account patient`s specificities and risk factors.
International Congress in Tyumen gained an interest of a large audience over the years it was carried out: hundreds of physicians and scientists come to get acquainted with innovations in science and medicine. Approximately 60 scientists` reports from Russia, Belarus, Israel, Italy, Belgium, the Czech Republic, Poland and Lithuania will be delivered within three next days in Tyumen Cardiology Research Center.
