On 5-6 December 2016 the II Interregional conference of cardiologists and therapists took place in Ulyanovsk. At the conference issues of prevention of chronic non-communicable diseases, surgical methods of treatment of cardiovascular diseases and cardiac rehabilitation were considered.
E. Akimova, MD, PhD, Head of Laboratory of Epidemiology and Prevention of Cardiovascular Diseases of Tyumen Cardiology Research Center, presented her report at the conference. She was a chairwoman of young scientists’ session and noted, “Level of students’ knowledge and level of their reports is very high, quite familiar to mature scientists.” She also was a chairwoman of symposium “Fr om cognitive disorders to prevention of cerebral stroke complications”, wh ere she told about a study of relevance of psychosocial risk factors in prevention of cardiovascular diseases. “Such topic always provokes a lively discussion among the participants. It means that research, we are conducting, to some extend are groundbreaking and extremely new.” – told Ekaterina Akimova.
838 doctors and delegates from different regions of Russia took part in the conference. A two-day scientific program included 23 scientific symposia, clinical lectures, round tables, workshops and practical schools with 86 faculties from 14 cities of the Russian Federation, including a lecturer from Spain. The conference was held with the support of the Ministry of Health of the Russian Federation, the Representative Office of the President of the Russian Federation in the Volga Federal District and the Government of the Ulyanovsk Region on the basis of the Ulyanovsk State University.
Ruslan Lynchak, First Deputy Director of the Research Center for Preventive Medicine of the Ministry of Healthcare of Russia, mentioned, “ On the one hand, over the past 10-12 years, we have seen a distinct reduction in mortality from circulatory system diseases by 30 percent. This is a very big leap and, of course, a positive trend. But on the other hand, the absolute level of mortality from circulatory system diseases in our country, unfortunately, remains 2-2.5 times higher than in developed European countries. So, we have something to work on.”
