On 25-26 October the VI scientific and educational conference of cardiologists and physicians of the Caucasus took place in Grozny. Ekaterina Akimova, MD, PhD, Head of Laboratory of Epidemiology and Prevention of Cardiovascular Diseases of Tyumen Cardiology Research Center, was an honorable member of the forum and was awarded a diploma for contribution to development of cardiology service.
At the opening ceremony, Elkhan Suleymanov, the Minister of Healthcare of the Chechen Republic, noticed that the professional conference of such importance was a good opportunity to increase a level of doctors` and healthcare managers` knowledge. He expressed deep gratitude to the leading researchers, colleagues and all guests from other regions for their active participation in the forum.
A record number of delegates participated in the conference - 750 doctors from republics of the North Caucasus Federal district, and from various cities of five Federal districts of the Russian Federation. The scientific program included more than 120 reports and lectures by leading experts from 26 cities of the Russian Federation and CIS countries.
Ekaterina Akimova became a member of the Scientific Committee of the conference, chaired symposium "The risk factors of chronic noncommunicable diseases", and also she presented results of her investigations on the topic “Psychosocial component of public health state - risks of cardiovascular diseases." She pointed out, «The cardiological service in Chechnya is developing very rapidly now – it is reaching an entire new level. The audience was attentive; everyone listened to the reports carefully and asked questions about our work and investigations with interest. It is pleasant for me that among the other 15 professors I was honored to be invited at E. Suleymanov`s reception. The Minister expressed his gratitude for the contribution to an education of doctors and cardiology service and presented diplomas and souvenirs to all guests. » Also, Doctor Akimova was awarded a Certificate of Honor for her contribution to strengthening friendship, peace and harmony in society, and active social and public activities.
Subjects of the previous conference included issues of prevention, prevalence, medical and surgical treatment, rehabilitation of cardiovascular and somatic diseases, healthcare organization issues. A workshop on functional diagnostics and echocardiography and symposiums on interventional cardiology and cardiac surgery were held with participation of specialists from various republics of the North Caucasian Federal District and federal centers. Main aspects of new European recommendations and results of international clinical research in the field of cardiology were presented. Symposia of young scientists were included in the scientific program.
Experts from the Urals, Siberia, Saratov, Rostov-on-Don, St. Petersburg and Kazakhstan participated in the scientific program for the first time. Special interest was arisen by lectures from such leading experts as R. G. Oganov, Academician of the Russian Academy of Sciences, Honorary President of Russian Society of Cardiology, President of the Found “Cardioprogress”, Professor J. D. Kobalava, Professor F. T. Ageev, D. G. Tarasova, Chief Doctor of the Astrakhan Federal Cardiovascular Center, Professor M. N. Mamedov and others. According to the results of the conference, delegates received training certificates within the framework of a new ongoing model of medical education with twelve credit hours.
The next VII Scientific and educational conference of cardiologists and physicians of the Caucasus with international participation will take place at the end of October 2017 in Makhachkala and Derbent.
