More than 100 Tyumen citizens participated in the «Healthy Heart Day»

Annual campaign devoted to the World Heart Day was held at Tyumen Cardiology Research Center on September, 24. This year Tyumen citizens were suggested to discover what Nordic walking is. The campaign was organized under support of Ministry of Healthcare, Ministry of Sport and Youth Policy of the Tyumen region, Tyumen Administration and city club of Nordic walking «Nordic».

Svetlana Bykova, exercise therapy specialist of Tyumen Cardiology Research Center, says, «According to scientific researches, a 40-minutes walk may prolong person’s life for 7 years. Nordic walking is even more efficient as it affects the entire organism. This kind of exercise is quite useful for every person, having a pole gives confidence and comfort for those who never did any sports».

All participants had express examination done, including blood pressure measure and inquiry for cardiovascular risk factors presence. The majority of participants had high blood pressure but gladly all of them take medications and visit cardiologists. Two women were sent to the Admittance Department due to high blood pressure and feeling sick. After receiving instructions and watching educational film participants performed warming-up and went out for a walk along the Memory Square with professional instructors.

Total amount of participants is 105 people; only 18 of them are men. The youngest participant is 31; the oldest is 87 years old. Organizators presented gifts and information materials to all participants. In return organizators received lots of positive reviews from grateful Tyumen citizens.
