On 20-23 September Russian National Congress of Cardiology took place in Ekaterinburg. This event is the greatest and one of the most authoritative professional forums which is aimed at uniting experience and knowledge of Russian and foreign cardiologists. Every year the main organizer of the Congress is Russian Society of Cardiology (RSC) supported by Ministry of Health Care of the Russian Federation.
More than 5000 specialists from 150 cities and 17 countries of the world discussed the latest inventions in cardiology and up-to-date issues of prevention, diagnostics and treatment of cardiovascular diseases within 4 days. At the Congress 169 sessions, 2 plenary sections and 3 poster sessions were held; Russian and foreign experts presented their lectures. Thomas F. Lüscher, Editor-in-Chief of European Heart Journal, R. Ferrari, Founder and President of European Heart for Children, and many other famous people visited Ekaterinburg.
Traditionally, an exhibition of producers of medical equipment and pharmaceutical drugs was organized. Cardiologists performed express examination at the Congress for the first time.
Specialists of Tyumen Cardiology Research Center took an active part at the work of the Congress and presented their oral and poster presentations. Ekaterina Akimova, MD, PhD, Head of Tyumen Cardiology Research Center laboratory for epidemiology and prevention of cardiovascular diseases, made a report «Some factors of psychological and emotional strain and coronary artery disease in the open population: prevalence, interconnections». Lyudmila Gapon, Professor, Head of Scientific Division of Clinical Cardiology of Tyumen Cardiology Research Center, Honored Scientist of the Russian Federation, acted as a chairman of the session «Arterial hypertension, metabolic syndrome, diabetes mellitus». Dmitriy Krinochkin, MD, Head of Department of Ultrasound Diagnostics, and Elena Yaroslavskaya, MD, Senior Scientific Researcher of Department of Ultrasound Diagnostics, described new diagnostics of coronary atherosclerosis and dangerous rhythm disturbances, modern selection for cardiac resynchronization therapy (CRT). Viktor Todosiychuk, MD, PhD, Head of Functional Diagnostics Department, presented a report «Ischemic myocardium preconditioning: 30 years of hopes and disappointments». Besides, specialists of Tyumen Cardiology Research Center participated in the work of Congress exhibition. Everyone could get information about opportunities of Tyumen specialists, including hi-tech treatment within federal quotas, at the stands.
Fausto Pinto, Vice-President of ESC, pointed out that he always collaborates with Russian specialists with pleasure and considers cardiology level in Russia quite high. He presented a lecture «Recommendations fulfill: role of scientific societies».
According to the general view of the participants, the Congress was at the top of scientific and organization level, it allowed to exchange experience and highlight perspectives of cardiology service.
