This year International Congress «Cardiology at a Crossroad of Sciences» was held in Nizhny Novgorod for the first time on 11 – 13 May hosted by Federal Agency of Scientific Organizations, Russian Academy of Sciences and Ministry of Healthcare of Nizhny Novgorod Region. Traditionally, the International Symposium of Echocardiography and Vascular Ultrasound and Annual International Conference «Cardiology Update» were also organized. Within 7 years already the Congress has been a platform of international exchange of experience and opinions, the latest achievements in science and practice. It is an opportunity to summarize knowledge, to view cardiology issues in the interconnection with allied medical specialties.
New efficient solutions to provide medical care to patients with cardiovascular pathology are designed within this approach. More than 600 participants from 52 cities of Russia and foreign countries; outstanding cardiologists from Serbia, Poland, Austria and Russia delivered their presentations. For Tyumen specialists online live broadcasting at Tyumen Cardiology Center was organized; about 200 people have watched it. 374 abstracts (9 countries) were included into the Abstract Book. At the ceremonial opening the greeting word was given to Gennadiy Kuznetsov, Minister of Health Care of Nizhny Novgorod region; Valeriy Sandrikov, Head of Clinical Physiology, Instrumental and Radiology Department at Russian Petrovskiy Scientific Center of Surgery, Academician of the Russian Academy of Sciences (Moscow); Thomas Binder, Professor, Director of Echocardiography Laboratory, Department of Cardiology of Medical University of Vienna (Vienna, Austria); Presidents of the Congress – Vadim Kuznetsov, Professor, Director of Tyumen Cardiology Center and Igor Fomin, Chief Therapist of Volga District Medical Centre under Federal Medical and Biological Agency (Nizhny Novgorod). Being an honorable guest, Thomas Binder highlighted that it has been many years of good collaboration with Russian specialists and highly estimated their professional level.
During 3 eventful days colleagues managed to share their latest achievements in ultrasound diagnostics, interventional treatment of heart diseases, to discuss updates in prevention and diagnostics of cardiovascular diseases, patients’ rehabilitation in case of interventions and many other issues. At the forum an exhibition of pharma companies was organized and visitors could see the most up-to-date Russian and foreign equipment for patients’ diagnostics (blood gas analyzers, lab hemostasis analyzer, vessel clipping technology, portable device for monthly heart and lungs support, operating unit drapes and new medications). According to the participants the Congress was a success. Scientific program was designed excellently, especially quality and relevancy of presentations. Organizing committee keeps receiving many positive reviews from faculties and visitors.
