Ekaterina Akimova, MD, PhD, Head of Tyumen Cardiology Center laboratory for epidemiology and prevention of cardiovascular diseases had an anniversary in the beginning of March.
She started her career in Tyumen Cardiology Center in 1985 as a cardiologist, but after graduation from the Institute of Preventive Cardiology in Moscow she has been doing only scientific work. During many years Ekaterina has been a supervisor of complex preventive program for Extreme North expeditionary and rotational oil workers. Within this program she defended her Ph.D thesis in 1993 and habilitation thesis in 2003. At the same time E.V. Akimova has been monitoring open population in Tyumen to reveal cardiovascular diseases and has been studying arterial hypertension and risk factors to design preventive measures.
Research results of Dr. Akimova were published more than 60 times. In 2008 her scientific studies received an award at the Tyumen region government competition as actual for the region.In 2014 Dr. Akimova was awarded with winner diploma of the Russian Society of Cardiology Reward for contribution into organization of preventive programs aimed at decrease of cardiovascular diseases incidence and death rate in Russia.
