Since its foundation Tyumen Cardiology Center unites a cardiology clinic, a research institute and educational facility. Our professors and senior researchers are promoters of young scientists doing intensive scientific work in the residency of the Center. On 8 of October Polina Shebeko and Tatiana Vinogradova, full-time postgraduate students, successfully defended their PhD theses in the Thesis Board of Tyumen State Medical Academy.
Tatiana Vinogradova told us: “The research which my thesis is based on was performed in Russia for the first time. We have received completely new interesting data. We studied survival of patients after cardiac resynchronization therapy (CRT). The research results showed that CRT is more effective than medical therapy for patients with congestive heart failure (CHF). CRT allows to prolong and improve significantly life of patients with severe pathology. Topic of my scientific work is the following “Long-term results of survival of patients with CHF and CRT.”
Polina Shebeko shared her impressions and explained the main point of her PhD thesis “Our study is devoted to development principles of such dangerous complications of various cardiovascular diseases as CHF. It is known that average lifetime of patients with CHF is only 3-5 years. Using heart rate variability analysis, we received new information about functioning of autonomic nervous system divisions in patients of this cohort. One of the thesis chapters is about searching for new pre-operational markers of efficiency of CRT, which is the most modern method of treatment patients with terminal CHF. We hope that deeper understanding of organism of CHF patients will allow to define the severity of the disease more accurately and to find the most appropriate treatment.”
Young scientists confessed that they were nervous before the defense, but answered all questions perfectly. “Key features of Thesis Board participants in Tyumen State Medical Academy is sincere benevolence and intelligence. Atmosphere of the Scientific Board of our institute gave us confidence,” told us the candidates.
Polina Shebeko and Tatiana Vinogradova express deep gratitude to their excellent promoters Prof. Vadim Kuznetsov, MD, PhD, Honoured Scientist of the Russian Federation and Tatiana Enina, MD, PhD, Senior Scientific Researcher of the laboratory of instrumental diagnostics for their tactful guidance, advices, and precious remarks during work on the theses.
Tyumen Cardiology Center staff congratulates young scientists and their advisors with successful defenses and wishes them new victories in science!
