On September 24-26 the Russian National Congress of Cardiology, which is annually held in different cities of Russia and is considered to be the most expected, significant event in the life of the scientific and medical community of the country will take place in Kazan. The organizers stressed that the Congress aims to solve the problems of modern cardiology and reduce cardiovascular mortality in the Russian Federation.
The scientific programme of the Congress includes a large number of plenary and panel sessions, schools, symposia, case studies, scientific and practical seminars, discussion clubs and workshops. Colleagues will discuss the most pressing issues of modern medicine including: adoption of innovative technologies of treatment of cardiovascular diseases, new methods in diagnosis of heart and blood vessels pathology, capabilities of modern medical treatment in cardiology, novel approaches to the rehabilitation of patients, and many others. Leading cardiologists from Russia and abroad will present lectures and reports on problems and achievements of modern cardiology. The Congress will be held with the support of the Ministry of Healthcare of the Russian Federation.
In his welcome address, posted at the official website of the Congress, President of the Russian Society of Cardiology Prof. Evgeny Shlyakhto said: “Interdisciplinary approach to the problems discussed is of exceptional value as it fully represents the current trend to integrate knowledge in medical science. No less important is a strong educational component of plenary sessions, symposia, clinical discussions, scientific seminars, round tables, and master classes. I strongly believe that thanks to your active and interested participation, the Russian National Congress of Cardiology 2014 will be a huge success and become a significant social event that will offer new prospects to the Russian healthcare for the welfare of our citizens.”
Physicians and scientists of Tyumen Cardiology Center annually take an active part in the National Congress of Cardiology. This year our experts will present their experience in the treatment of patients with atrial fibrillation, coronary artery disease, congestive heart failure. Specialist of Ultrasound Diagnostics Department Anna Nechayeva, MD will attend the School of Echocardiography “Quantitative Assessment of the Heart Chambers” and deliver a lecture on “Basic Echocardiographic Positions: “the Pitfalls”.
During the meeting in Kazan Awards of the Russian Society of Cardiology for outstanding achievements in cardiology will be presented. By the decision of the Award Expert Council, Head of the Laboratory of Cardiovascular Disease Epidemiology and Prevention of Tyumen Cardiology Center Ekaterina Akimova, MD, PhD was included in the list of nominees for the Award of the Russian Society of Cardiology for organization of prevention programs aimed at reducing of cardiovascular morbidity and mortality in the Russian Federation.For the last 30 years Ekaterina Akimova is working on the problems of epidemiology and prevention of cardiovascular diseases. In the 90s a comprehensive prevention program for oil industry expeditionary-shift workers of the Far North was successfully implemented under her leadership. Since 1996 Dr. Akimova monitors open Tyumen population to identify cardiovascular diseases, actively develops preventive measures aimed to reduce both traditional and psychosocial cardiovascular risk factors.
The Award of the Russian Society of Cardiology was established in the summer of 2012. One of the first winners of the Award was Professor Lyudmila Gapon, MD, PhD, Head of Scientific Division of Clinical Cardiology of Tyumen Cardiology Center, Honored Scientist of the Russian Federation. She was rewarded with Nikolay Korotkov’s Award for her outstanding achievements in the prevention and treatment of arterial hypertension.
