For the first time within the International Congress “Cardiology at a Crossroad of Sciences” a literary-musical section “Diagnosis: Poet” was held in Tyumen Cardiology Center.
The performances of doctors-poets won the audience, among whom were not only participants of the Congress, but also representatives of the literary association of the Tyumen region and friends of Tyumen Cardiology Center. Talented physicians presented songs and poems on various topics, figuratively and vividly told about problems that medical professionals are facing today. Poetry devoted to the eternal themes of love, faith and meaning of life were also read.
The meeting was opened by Tyumen writer Leonid Ivanov, Editor-in-Chief of the literary miscellany “The Gates of Siberia”, Member of the Writers’ Union of Russia: “Today we are going to talk about an unusual medical diagnosis, a disease, symptoms of which can’t be found in any medical reference or tutorial. We will get acquainted with works of doctors who treat not only the body but the soul as well. It turns out that throughout the ages most poets and writers were among doctors. No other profession can boast of so many talents in literature. You will find an incredible number of examples in the history where doctors had several talents – poetry, music, painting: Hippocrates, Avicenna, Rabelais, Chekhov... Today we will get acquainted with works of people, who are worthy of this list.”
The section “Diagnosis: Poet” drew numerous attendees, some of them presented their works: ophthalmologist Olga Danilova-Pushkar, member of the Writers’ Union of Russia, member of the Union of Journalists of Russia; Anatoliy Vasiliev, Honoured Worker of Culture of Russia, member of the Writers’ Union of Russia; Tatiana Moshkina, Head of the Cardiology Department of Ekaterinburg Central City Hospital; Igor Oboldin, Head of the Cardiology Department of City Ambulance Hospital (Shadrinsk city), who presented not only poetry, but his paintings as well. Some poets recited loudly, at the top of voice, others – timidly and sensuously, while others filled their compositions with music. Thus, Director of Tyumen Cardiology Center, Professor Vadim Kuznetsov along with the pop group “The Rhythms of the Heart” performed the song “Black Chatain” (poetry and music by V. Kuznetsov), and the legendary song “Hotel California”, which Prof. Kuznetsov had translated into Russian language.
Medical stories from the book "Doctor's sausage" were read by a teacher of acting technique Vladislav Panov. The author of these stories is a famous scientist, cardiologist, Head of the Northwest Center for Diagnosis and Treatment of Arrhythmias, Chair of Cardiology of St. Petersburg State Medical Academy, Professor Yuriy Shubik. It is great that in addition to the main work there is a place for creativity that unites everyone.”
