On April 12 a seminar of pediatric ophthalmologists, rheumatologists and cardiologists took place in Tyumen Cardiology Center. Famous Moscow pediatricians delivered reports and lectures at the seminar. A workshop, where leading scientists gave practical recommendations to children’s doctors was held within the meeting.
Senior Research Associate of Moscow Helmholtz Research Institute of Eye Diseases, ophthalmic surgeon, Doctor Ekaterina Denisova, MD, and Professor of Pediatrics Department of I.M. Sechenov First Moscow State Medical University Doctor Elena Zholobova, MD told Tyumen doctors about new methods of treatment for uveitis (uveitis is inflammation of the uvea, the middle layer of the eye, leading to permanent vision loss) and its interconnection with cardio-rheumatological pathology in children.
Dr. Tatiana Chernysheva, Chief Pediatric Cardiologist of Healthcare Department of Tyumen, Associate Professor of Tyumen State Medical Academy, Pediatric Cardiologist of Tyumen Cardiology Center, who initiated the seminar, clarified its topicality: “Nowadays you should go beyond your specialization, as treatment of any disease affects all body systems. To treat well you need to be well versed in any subject, - told the doctor. – Together with leading Russian pediatricians we discussed current problems in pediatrics and reminded doctors of the cases in which urgent diagnosis is necessary. We also talked about juvenile rheumatoid arthritis (chronic inflammatory disease of the joints). There are 117 children with this disease in Tyumen, 10 of them are now receiving expensive treatment.”
As part of the workshop a council on which colleagues investigated three challenging clinical cases was organized. Moscow doctors examined the children, treated by specialists of Tyumen Cardiology Center, gave valuable advice on the appointment of medical therapy and further treatment.
