Scientists met in Tyumen Cardiology Center

Yesterday the 20th Academic Meeting of Tyumen Region devoted to the Day of Russian Science was held in Tyumen Cardiology Center. The subject of the meeting was achievements and unresolved questions in cardiology. About 250 people took part in the scientific meeting.


The meeting was opened by Prof. Georgiy Krylov, Deputy Director of West Siberian Innovation Center, who congratulated the participants with the Russian Science Day and noted that research teams are the source of innovative ideas and projects. Oleg Zaruba, Deputy Governor of Tyumen Region, who addressed members of the meeting on behalf of Tyumen government, promoted the idea of Georgiy Krylov.
The distinguished guest of the meeting was Prof. Evgeniy Shlyakhto, Academician of the Russian Academy of Medical Science, President of the Russian Society of Cardiology, Director of Federal Almazov Heart, Blood and Endocrinology Centre. “During the last years a decrease in mortality from cardiovascular diseases was 18%, and this is just the beginning, - he mentioned. – The world is changing, as well as health care does. Research and development for clinical practice is rapidly implemented. All science today is a real clinical practice tomorrow.” Prof. Shlyakhto reminded that last year Russian Society of Cardiology celebrated its 50th anniversary. Doctors of different specialties working at allied fields and treating cardiovascular diseases represent the organization now. The society intended decreasing mortality from coronary artery disease by 28% and from stroke by 20%. “All our achievements are connected with professional communities’ work. We have all the opportunities today for treatment of any degree of complexity up to the state of the art, and Tyumen is the example of such achievements,” – Evgeniy Shlyakhto added.
One more lecture – “Siberian cardiology: innovations in diagnosis and treatment of cardiovascular diseases” was delivered by Prof. Rostislav Karpov, Academician of the Russian Academy of Medical Science, Director of FSBI «Research Institute for Cardiology» of Siberian Branch under the Russian Academy of Medical Sciences (Tomsk). Director of Tyumen Cardiology Center Prof. Vadim Kuznetsov presented a lecture about innovative cardiac technologies in Tyumen. Presentation of the awards to the most successful scientists of Tyumen region, among which were key specialists of Tyumen Cardiology Center, took place at the meeting. Medical exhibition was organized for the guests, there they could see modern equipment and undergo an express cardiological check-up (measure their blood pressure, blood sugar and cholesterol level, check the condition of neck vessels by portable ultrasound and get a consultation of a cardiologist).
Primary aim of the Academic Meeting was joining the efforts of scientists in solving problems of our region. The colleagues meet annually to discuss issues of modern science, technology, ecology, health care and many other scientific and industrial sectors.
