Severe frosts came to Tyumen. It is not a secret that sharp change of weather has a negative influence on people suffering from cardiovascular diseases, and sudden jump in air pressure causes an increase in number of myocardial infarctions and strokes. Cardiologists of Tyumen Cardiology Center advice their patients to avoid exercise and emotional stress at that time.

“Our winter is characterized by sudden changes from warm to cold – and it affects even healthy people, who suffer from headaches, vertigo, pressure changes. As for cardiology patients, they are especially susceptible to low temperatures, - told Natalia Galeeva, Head of Physiotherapy Department of Tyumen Cardiology Center. – During the frost they feel physiological discomfort – cold, sleepiness, fatigue. In addition, a sharp spasm of vessels can occur, that may lead to serious consequences for hypertensive people”.
Specialists recommend being more mindful of your health, taking required medication in time to avoid vascular problems. Doctors advise to cut out salted, pickled, spicy and smoked products from your food for they cause water retention. Try to abandon red meat, red wine and mature cheese as these products contain tyramine – a substance that can increase a headache or trigger a migraine. “Though it is usually lack of fruits and vegetables in winter, we still recommend eating them as much as possible; you can also take a course of multivitamins from time to time,” – said Natalia Galeeva. Walk in the fresh air is good for your health; but if you are unable or have no energy to go out, try to ventilate your room frequently and sleep with an open window. Fresh air improves functioning of cerebral vessels and makes your sleep deeper and healthier. “Physical exercises should be adequate, without pain sensation. Feeling fatigued you should have a rest in order to avoid overstrain,” – the cardiologist added.
It is also important to wear warm clothes, socks, and gloves when exposed to cool or cold temperatures, to prevent vasoconstriction. If the temperature outside is really cold with a strong wind, you should protect your forehead and temples.
