Scientists of Tyumen Cardiology Center presented their scientific achievements in Barnaul

On October 10-11, 2013 5th Siberian Convention of Cardiologists “Siberian Science to Russian Practice” was held in Barnaul in conjunction with the Regional Conference “Catheter Methods of Treatment of Resistant Arterial Hypertension”.


Plenary sessions, scientific symposia, workshops on ultrasound diagnostics and heart rhythm disturbances, young scientists contest and poster session were held during the Convention. Dr. Nina Shurkevich, Senior Scientific Researcher of the Arterial Hypertension Department told: “Many colleagues got interested in our scientific data which we represented at the meeting, so we were satisfied with our results at the Convention.” Ivan Bessonov, interventional cardiologist of Tyumen Cardiology Center shared his opinion: “I was impressed by the lecture of Academician Eugeniy Chazov, in which he analyzed the ways of cardiac care perfection in the Russian Federation. Academician Karpov’s presentation about the achievements of modern cardiology in Siberia was also very interesting.”
Specialists of Tyumen Cardiology Center presented many reports: “The role of echocardiography in the selection of patients for cardiac resynchronization therapy” (Professor Vadim Kuznetsov, Director of Tyumen Cardiology Center); “Real clinical practice of percutaneous intracoronary interventions according to the data of Tyumen Register” (Dr. Ivan Bessonov, interventional cardiologist); “Markers of inflammation in unstable angina after coronary angioplasty with stenting” (Dr. Natalia Musikhina) and others. The lecture of Professor Lyudmila Gapon, Head of Scientific Division of Clinical Cardiology got many good responses. Lyudmila Gapon talked about the results and perspectives of renal denervation procedure – a modern method of treatment of patients with resistant arterial hypertension (when blood pressure level remains above the target 140/90 mmHg despite treatment with three or more antihypertensive medications).
Main tasks of the biennial Siberian Convention of Cardiologists are skill-sharing and knowledge improvement in prevention and treatment of cardiovascular diseases. Chief organizer of the Forum is the Siberian Branch of Russian Academy of Medical Sciences.
