International Day of Older Persons, a special day for senior citizens all over the world, is celebrated annually on October 1 to recognize the contributions of older persons and to examine issues that affect their lives. In many countries, politicians make speeches, particularly those responsible for government departments that focus on senior citizens, at this time of the year. Some radios, televisions or newspapers publish interviews with senior citizens on various issues such as achievements they made to create a better society.

Other activities surrounding this day include: displays of promotional material on the International Day of Older Persons in schools, tertiary institutions, office buildings and public notice boards; media announcements on the day and activities that promote older persons; and inter-generational cooperation on voluntary activities focused on the environment, health, education or community services.
To appreciate the contributions that older people make to society Tyumen Cardiology Center arranged a concert in honour of them. This time guests had a wide selection of delicious meals to choose from. Musicians played old favourite compositions, and a couple of Cardiology Center’s dance team “Lege artis” made an impromptu dance, which was a great success. The concert was opened by a greetings speech of Vladislav Smaznov, Deputy Director of Tyumen Cardiology Center. “Dear friends! I thank you very much for your contribution to the development of our center. Tyumen Cardiology Center today is one of the best medical institutions in Russia. It became possible thanks to your work, effort and health that you have invested in our common cause,” – expressed his gratitude Vladislav Smaznov.
Till the end of the evening there were cheerful dances and merry mood in the hall. “I’m so happy to see my ex-colleagues, both retired and working. We are always warmly welcomed here, - smiled Galina I. Pervushina, ex-worker of the pharmacy. – We are pleased that we are remembered and taken care of. Thanks a lot!”
“I had been working in Tyumen Cardiology Center for 25 years until my retirement, - Klavdia V. Razhdneva told. – And now every year I come to the center at this festive occasion. It is always nice and very interesting here.”
