Activity in Tyumen Cardiology Center doesn’t stop even in summer, on the contrary, this season is fruitful with scientific discoveries and various internal actions for our team.

On June 23-26, 2013 the annual Convention of European Heart Rhythm Association (EHRA) – EUROPACE was held in Athens (Greece). In spite of the fact that the main part of scientific events of the Convention is devoted to cardiovascular problems in Europe, it attracts the attention of scientists fr om all over the world and is considered to be a great event in global cardiology. Alexander Pavlov, interventional cardiologist of the Department of Complicated Heart Rhythm Disturbances Surgery and Cardiac Pacing shared his impressions of the Convention: “A great deal of lectures on radiofrequency ablation (high-technology method of heart rhythm disturbances treatment) was presented. I would also make special mention of the report on renal artery denervation (i.e. method of treatment of patients with resistant arterial hypertension – the process of selective soothing of hyperactive renal nerves that leads to the decrease of elaboration in kidneys of hormones that raise blood pressure). We have recently introduced this technique in our center, performed several operations and are waiting for results now. It was interesting to learn from experience of other scientists as this conference displays all last achievements in theory and practice of cardiology.”
Two specialists of Cardiology Center – Natalya Musikhina, Head of the Department of Emergency Cardiology and Elena Gorbatenko, Research Assistant of Instrumental Diagnostics Laboratory had two poster presentations at the World Congress on Hypertension that was held on June 27-30 in Istanbul (Turkey). The main goal of the forum was to discuss major problems in epidemiology, prevention and treatment of arterial hypertension. About 3000 participants from all over the world took part in the Congress.
One more important event took place on June, 4 in Moscow, wh ere the initial meeting of researchers studying a new drug for ischemic heart disease treatment was held. Scientists are now trying to assess its influence on patients with chronic heart failure with diastolic dysfunction. The specialists of Cardiology Center: Alexander Yu. Rychkov, Deputy Director of Tyumen Cardiology Center, Head of Heart Rhythm Disturbances Department, Tatiana N. Enina and Georgiy S. Pushkarev, Scientific Researchers of Instrumental Diagnostics Laboratory represented Tyumen at the meeting. Tatiana Enina mentioned that 119 centers from 16 countries are taking part in this international research. Seven Russian centers: from Moscow, St. Petersburg, Novosibirsk, Rostov-on-Don and Tyumen participate in this project. It should be noted that famous scientist Viatcheslav Yu. Mareev, Deputy Vice-Chancellor of Lomonosov Moscow State University, Executive Director of Heart Failure Association (HFA) will lead the research in Russia.
And in Tyumen Cardiology Center intensive work is going ahead. Once again, our doctors are conducting a survey of 72 sportsmen from the “Rubin” hockey club. During the second check-up which is scheduled for July hockey players will have echocardiography, ECG, exercise testing and will be consulted by one of the main specialists of the Center – Elena P. Gultyaeva, Head of Outpatient Department, senior researcher, cardiologist of higher category. The results of the examination and the detailed medical recommendations will help hockey teams’ doctors to control the amount and intensity of training loads of their players.
Moreover the action “Investments in Health” is being held now in Tyumen Cardiology Center. Each patient who receives medical services in the period from 17 June to 14 October 2013 becomes a participant of the action. According to the rules of the action every patient gets special coupons (“Cardiocents”) which can be used as payment of up to 20% of cost of the next inpatient treatment. The action takes place annually and is designed to remind that investments in one’s own health are always profitable!
