On December 5-8, 2012 International Congress «Euroecho and other Imaging Modalities-2012» was held in Athens (Greece).
EuroEcho-Imaging is organized every year by the European Association of Cardiovascular Imaging (EACVI) (formerly the European Association of Echocardiography, EAE), a registered branch of the European Society of Cardiology. EuroEcho-Imaging is the largest scientific event in Europe to deal with echocardiography and other imaging modalities, one that presents a wide range of novelties and maintains a strong educational flavor. Specific sessions with clinically oriented cases and live presentations are used to illustrate the capabilities of new echocardiographic techniques.

The EAE was created in 2003 and was the first Association within the ESC. In 2012, EAE became EACVI. The mission of the EACVI is «To promote excellence in clinical diagnosis, research, technical development, and education in cardiovascular ultrasound and other imaging modalities in Europe.»
From year to year the Congress is becoming more popular, and today Euroecho is one of the biggest scientific diagnostic forums in Europe. This year the Congress attracted more than 3000 participants who got acquainted with the latest scientific achievements in non-invasive diagnosis of cardiovascular disease, took part in the creative exchange of ideas and visited one of the biggest exhibition which provided the opportunity to exchange with key industry experts on critical areas of development and research in cardiovascular products and therapies.

Professor Vadim Kuznetsov, Director of Tyumen Cardiology Center delivered 3 poster presentations at the Congress and together with the Head of the Foreign Relations Department Elena Logunova took part in the International Echo Area. This year at the exhibition of international ultrasound societies held within the Congress, two echo societies jointly represented our country: the Russian Chapter of the International Society of Cardiovascular Ultrasound, created on the basis of Tyumen Cardiology Center and chaired by Professor Kuznetsov and the Section of Echocardiography of the Russian Society of Cardiology, headed by Professor Simon Matskeplishvili from Moscow. The societies presented a joint stand and information materials giving visibility to their activities. In June 2012 these two Russian echo societies concluded a cooperation agreement with the idea to promote the integration of Russian ultrasound specialists into the professional world community, to enhance and maintain the highest possible standards in clinical diagnosis, research, technical development, and education in cardiovascular ultrasound in Russia.
