Tyumen cardiologists hold wings of angels

Russian National Congress of Cardiologists in Moscow ended on the 5th of October 2012. During the Congress the Russian Society of Cardiology Awards for outstanding achievements in cardiology were presented. The solemn awarding ceremony took place in the Russian Presidential Academy of National Economy and Public Administration. The symbol of the awards (an angel’s wings hugging a crystal sphere) and laureate diplomas were handed out by the President of the Russian Society of Cardiology (RSC), Academician Evgeny Vladimirovich Shlyakhto.



Professor Lyudmila Ivanovna Gapon, Honored Scientist of the Russian Federation, Head of the scientific department of clinical cardiology in Tyumen Cardiology Center, received the Nikolay S. Korotkov Award for outstanding achievement in the field of arterial hypertension prevention and treatment. “The Award of Korotkov has been just established. I am very flattered that the RSC serious expert committee has let me be the first one to receive it, shared Lyudmila Ivanovna. – I see this award not only as acknowledgement of the importance of arterial hypertension treatment, but also as recognition of the work of Tyumen Cardiology Center.” In addition Lyudmila Ivanovna thanked the director of Tyumen Cardiology Center, Honored Scientist of the Russian Federation, Professor Vadim Kuznetsov for providing opportunities for creative work.
Vadim Anatolievich delivered an oral presentation at the Congress. At the “Hot topics in cardiology” session he talked about differences in clinical manifestations of coronary artery disease and coronary atherosclerosis in ethnic groups with Christian and Muslim cultures in the Tyumen region. Elena Yaroslavskaya, specialist of the instrumental diagnostics laboratory, also participated in the Congress with her report “Gender differences of chronic mitral regurgitation in post-myocardial infarction patients”. “The Congress was very impressive; there were more than 3 thousand participants from 20 different countries. A great number of original research abstracts were presented, and ours were among them. Prof. Kuznetsov and I got a lot of positive feedbacks”, she said
