On March 31, 2011 the annual scientific and practical conference “Cardiology: Advances and Prospects” was held in Nadym. Leading specialists of Tyumen Cardiology Centre delivered lectures and reports at the meeting. They told their colleagues about novel methods for treating patients with cardiovascular diseases.

The rates of mortality and disability from cardiovascular diseases remain very high. This problem is one of the most important in our country, especially in the Northen regions. Unfavorable climatic parameters, lack of oxygen, thermal discontinuity during a day, and many other factors lead to earlier development of arterial hypertension. Prevention is of crucial importance for the solution of this problem.
Along with prevention programmes, new technologies of treatment make it possible to improve and prolong the life of patients who were hopeless some time ago.
The participants of the conference were greeted by Vyacheslav Grigorievich Ivko (First Deputy of the Chief Executive of Nadym), Igor Anatolievich Vovk (Head of the Health Department), Ludmila Alexandrovna Chlivnuk (Head Physician of Central District Hospital of Nadym).
At the conference leading specialists of Tyumen Cardiology Centre shared their experience in application of new high technology methods. They also told about new approaches to diagnosis and treatment of cardiovascular diseases. Oral presentations were delivered by Professor Ludmila Ivanovna Gapon, Head of the Clinical Cardiology Division at Tyumen Cardiology Center, Honored scientist of the Russian Federation, National expert on arterial hypertension; and Professor Alexander Yurievich Rychkov, Research supervisor of the Department of Heart Rhythm Disturbances.
The conference was attended by more than 50 physicians from Nadym and other towns of Yamal-Nenets Autonomous District.
It is worth noting that these joint meetings are held annually. The main goal of that cooperation is to provide up-to-date knowledge about treatment of arterial hypertension, coronary artery disease, chronic heart failure, and arrhythmias. Moreover they help strengthen cooperation and share experience.
It is worthwhile to say that in 2010 more than 1300 citizens of Yamal-Nenets Autonomous District received high-technology cardiac care under the program Collaboration.
